Why renewable energy is called Green?

Renewable energy is called alternative energy is because now we use fossil fuels and that is bad for nature and the Earth. They are alternitive. They should be used instead of fossil fuels and then we can stop worrying about global warming and hurting the environment for the generations yet to come.

I haven't the slightest idea. Renewable energy is generally associated with reduced carbon emissions, but the "green" things, i.e., the plants, thrive on increased carbon emissions. In particular, photosynthesis is, essentially,

CO2 + H2O + photon → CH2O + O2

Carbon dioxide is an input and oxygen is a "waste" product. From a plant's perspective, it's the job of the animals to consume this waste and return life-giving CO2 to the atmosphere. Energy that yields reduced CO2 thus should be called "magenta", the non-spectral opposite of "green".

If coal is classed as a non-renewable source, wind energy is classed as a renewable resource of energy.
