Will we have to give up eating beef to stop global warming?

Yes. Cows are the second major cause of global warning. The first are powerhouses, and the third cars. Many people agree that it's easier to give up with a kind of meat than to stop using your car or elettricity.

A:Scientists and economists believe we can bring our carbon emissions down quickly by reducing our consumption of fossil fuels, and are not focussed on the methane emissions from sheep and cattle. As long as we act quickly to reduce our use of fossil fuels, beef consumption is a second tier cocern.

It is true that sheep and cattle are major sources of methane, which is some twenty times as potent a greenhouse gas as carbon dioxide. However, there is promising research going on into changing the diet of cattle and thereby reduce the amount of methane they belch, as well as other ways of minimising this problem. It should not come to this, but we could always eat chicken, pork, kangaroo, fish and other forms of meat from animals that are not ruminants and do not produce methane in their digestive systems.
