More than meets the eye. Many women abuse children. often there are (mothers) in name only who use their kids as whipping boys ( or girls) for their hated ex-spouse, boyfriend, etc. I heard from a woman who was once a security officer at a prison ( a prison guard, so to speak)- most of the women in Hard Custory- that is, for serious crimes, are involved in some sort of form of Child abuse. Minor crimes like Shoplifting are often committed by females- but the heavy-duty stuff is usually child abuse. DRAGNET dramatized this in one case where the assault weapon making the welts on the victim's back turned out to be a length of electrical extension cord! It is one of the few Violent crimes routinely commited by women.
