I am born and raised in Caribou, Maine and I'm black...as a matter of fact I have know (non family members) at least 30-40 black people who live here...there is still many I don't know. As well as quite a few black residents we have the Loring Job Corps Center atleast 200 or more.---Caribou Gurl (BTW there is 11,429 black people in Maine)... According to US Census Bureau estimates for 2006, roughly .8% of Maine's Population is Black. The state had an estimated population of 1.3 million people in 2006, making the Black population somewhere between 10k and 11k. - Brian http://www.earlyMaine.org Actually no that's POINT 8 percent meaning less than 1 percent, putting the actual number closer to 1,000 black people in Maine. Sounds about right actually, Maine is the whitest state in the country, and where I grew up I literally had never met a black person until I was about 15. Frank Hey "Frank" I think you need to redo your calculations because you are wrong, ".8%" IS NOT LESS THEN "1%", Brian typed and clearly expressed ".8%"(notice the percent symbol behind the 8), he did not type (as you put it) "POINT 8". So with that out of the way let's crunch the numbers again. ".8%" or 8%=008, and if you multiply this number by 1.3 million or 1300,000 X .008 then your answer would be 10,400. So Brian is correct with his 10 to 11k estimate. Mr Monk Actually, Frank is right. .8% is less than 1%. 8% is greater than 1%. redoing the calculation, there is about 1040 (130,000 X .8%). Ricardo
