In 2009, 531 died from self-inflicted firearm discharge, about 1.45 people a day.

177 died from firearm related homicide, about .48 people a day.

Adding these two, you would get about 1.94 people in Canada each day dying from gun discharge.

0.0149063 per 1,000 people;

~33 740 000 times 0.0149063

=502 938.562

=~502 939 people are murdered each year in Canada

That math's a bit off. The murder rate in Canada is about 1.56 per 100,000 people. With a population of about 35 million, that's about 546 (using the 2007 crime census data and the 2014 population info). If 502 939 people were murdered every year, we'd run out of people!
