Further, the people of Hawaii are not necessarily "fat" per se, as people in almost all developed countries are averaging weight gains when demographic data are looked at. The people in the U.S. are generally "heavier" than they were in the past, and the issue has grown into one of public health. The CDC now tracks statistics relating to obesity.
