Following the Palio (and the trial races) from the centre of the square is free. Access to the square is closed half an hour before the horses appear on the track.

Any other position (grandstand, balconies, windows, terraces) require a ticket. Prices start from ca. 150€ a ticket, range mostly about 350€ and can go up for the most comfortable solutions (windows, that usually sell "apiece").

Tickets for trial races (the three days before each Palio) are much cheaper (an average of 40€ per person).

A couple of good sites easy to find in Google can help with the tickets.

Hoping that this helps to curb some of the wrong articles (and bad agencies) also easy to find in Google.
