In total there are 18 wheels. 4 wheels under each wing, 8 on the under carriage and 2 at the front called nose gear.

The Boeing 747 has 18 tires, the same as a semi-truck trailer/lorry. They are all the same size which makes replacing them easier. The steerable nose gear has two and there are four on each bogey that form the main landing gear. By their position the main gear are called the wing or fuselage gear.
