Asbestos was widely used in the construction of the first of the towers of the World Trade Center to be built. It was being phased out when the second tower was being constructed and was not used in most of the second tower. Substantial removal projects had been completed, and both towers were essentially free of asbestos containing fireproofing on steel, long before the attacks of 2001 caused the towers to collapse.
While some people incorrectly believe that the buildings would still be standing if asbestos fire proofing on the steel had been used throughout and had not been removed, it is important to understand that fireproofing materials free of asbestos were applied when the asbestos type was not used or was removed. And the fireproofing was blasted off the steel by the initial impact and explosions. So the presence or absence of asbestos had no impact on the survival of the building. It did impact the environmental conditions in lower Manhattan after the buildings collapsed.
Construction of the World Trade Center began in 1965 and ended in 1973.

Yes, asbestos was used in the construction of the Empire State Building. It was commonly used as insulation and fireproofing material in buildings during that time period due to its heat resistance and durability. However, asbestos is now known to be a health hazard and its use has been heavily restricted or banned in many countries due to its link to serious respiratory diseases such as lung cancer and mesothelioma.
The construction of One and Two World Trade Center (The Twin Towers) began in the mid-1960's and finished in the early 1970's.

The 64th floor. During construction of the World Trade Center, environmentlists finally badgered New York city into prohibiting further use of asbestos to fireproof steel structural members, so from floor 64 up, an inferior product was used. Had the plane crashed further down in the building, where asbestos had been used to fireproof the steel structure, there would have been no bending and crippling of the steel structure from the flames, and the building would be standing, today.
6 World Trade Center, also known as 6 WTC, was part of the original World Trade Center complex in Lower Manhattan, New York City. It was completed in 1973 as part of the original construction of the World Trade Center. The building was designed by Emery Roth Sons and stood at 47 stories tall. It was severely damaged during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks and ultimately collapsed. The current 6 World Trade Center, also known as 6 WTC, is a new building that was completed in 2006 as part of the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site.
They are one and the same; both phrases refer to the 1776-foot-tall tower currently under construction in the new World Trade Center.
Asbestos use in construction significantly decreased in the 1980s and was largely banned in the late 1990s due to its links to serious health issues like lung cancer and mesothelioma. Today, there are strict regulations in place to control and monitor any remaining asbestos-containing materials in buildings.
A new World Trade Center Complex is currently under construction; it is comprised of seven buildings, the centerpiece being the 1776 foot (1792 to the tip) One World Trade Center. The new complex also features a transportation hub, 9/11 memorial, and museum. Construction began in 2002 and thus far, only one tower (WTC 7) has been completed, however both One Trade Center and Four World Trade Center have thus far nearly risen to their respective roof levels.
