You should change the flue if you have ever had a flue fire. you also can remove the base T and use a mirror to look up the flue. If the inside looks warped it should be replaced.
Ben Franklin invented the central standing stove that was piped to the chimney.

Mainly creosote, which is released from the wood as a vapour during burning which then condenses on the inside of your chimney or flue liner. The cooler the chimney, the worse the problem, so burning your stove turned right down will speed up this build-up. Similarly, burning unseasoned wood or certain species like pine & cypress can speed up this process. The cure is to sweep the chimney regularly and burn your stove hot from time to time. If you dont, one day the build-up can catch fire within your chimney. Lining the chimney with a stainless steel flue liner to increase the speed of gases up the chimney (preferably insulated liner to further reduce heat loss) also reduces the problem.
Rocket stove technology is based on the principles of efficient combustion and heat transfer. The key features include a insulated combustion chamber, a vertical chimney for improved airflow, and a design that maximizes the transfer of heat to the cooking surface. These principles result in a stove that burns fuel more efficiently, produces less smoke, and cooks food faster compared to traditional stoves.
The visible smoke coming out of a chimney is typically called chimney smoke or chimney emissions. It is produced when a substance is burned in the fireplace or stove and consists of small particles and gases.
Chimney dirt is commonly referred to as creosote. This is a byproduct of burning wood or other fuels in a fireplace or stove and can build up in the chimney, posing a fire hazard if not cleaned regularly.
The steps involved in chimney liner installation include preparing the chimney, measuring the liner, cutting it to size, inserting it into the chimney, connecting it to the stove or fireplace, and sealing any gaps to ensure proper ventilation and safety.
When installing a chimney pipe for wood stoves, it is important to follow these best practices: Use high-quality materials that are designed for wood stove installations. Ensure the chimney pipe is the correct size and type for your wood stove. Install the chimney pipe vertically and with the proper clearances from combustible materials. Use proper support and bracing to secure the chimney pipe in place. Inspect and clean the chimney regularly to prevent buildup of creosote and ensure proper ventilation.
If your installer is experienced professional installer with proven track record and references then you would have no problem allowing him to cut the chimney. Keep in mind that this type of job should only be done by someone who is experienced. If your wood stove installer is NOT experienced get in touch with the contractor who installed your tin roof and ask if they have the qualifications to do it.
This is probably going to require building permits and inspections- would hire a chimney specialist to do this. Refitting will inolve removing old fireplace, and installing new. Building Code may not allow you to connect wood stove to pre-fab fireplace- the stovepipe needs to be connected directly to the chimney. Please discuss work planned with a legitimate chimney contractor- you may change your mind on some of it.
I will assume that you have a masonry chimney. In the area where I sell wood stoves a stainless steel flex liner is required if the clay liner has cracks in it. It should be connected to a s\s thimble through the wall of the chimney.
Two of the most important are the Franklin stove, a stove in the middle of the room that has a chimney over to the regular chimney, and bifocals. He also came up with the idea of fire insurance and one way streets. He made the glass harmonica.
