Almost all programming languages are sequential in nature. But VHDL is a concurrent language. In an architecture for an entity, all statements are concurrent. So where do sequential statements exist in VHDL?. There is a statement called the process statement that contains only sequential statements. The process statement is itself a concurrent statement. A process statement can exist in an architecture and define regions in the architecture where all statements are sequential. A process statement has a declaration section and a statement part. In the declaration section, types, variables, constants, subprograms, and so on can be declared. The statement part contains only sequential statements. Sequential statements consist of CASE statements, IF THEN ELSE statements, LOOP statements, and so on.

How to use next in vhdl code?

In VHDL, the next statement or command or instance is generally selected using a clock pulse.clk'event and clk = '1'means rising edge of the clock.clk'event and clk = '0'means rising falling of the clock. The statement written after this line executes after the occurrence of a rising or falling edge of a clock.if (clk'event and clk = '1')The above statement makes the next statement or command to execute for every rising edge of the clock. By applying a clock pulse with minimum time period, we can make the next command to be called.

Why should you use vhdl?

VHDL is a hardware description language. Its very purpose is to describe hardware in the form of a program. This program can be understood by the user and the system as well. By implementing the hardware as a code, it is easier to verify its functionality. Hence, to test hardware before it could actually be designed, we should use VHDL.

What is the vhdl code for 8253 microprocessor?

VHDL code for 8253 need to be written in structural modeling of VHDL. It will be a bunch of programs related to each and every component or functionality we use in 8253 and need to be combined. It is not a single program. It is a combination of several programs.

Where is your main location in New York in the historic Allentown district ?

to bring the designer with little or no knowledge of VHDL, to the level of writing complex VHDL descriptions. It is not intended to show every possible construct of VHDL in every possible use, but rather to show the designer

What is the Difference between verilog and vhdl language?

C is a high level language that is compiled into machine language for specific system. The system implements some sort of state machine that can process the compiled machine language. In VHDL you have to design the statemachine itself. Furthermore VHDL is compiled into logic primitives that could be built by logic gates which itself could be realized with transistors. C is a programming language. VHDL is a hardware description language.

How can you give the input values in vhdl code itself instead of giving the input values in test bench for synthesis in xilinx and where you have to give the input values in vhdl code?

In the "architecture" of VHDL, after "begin" statement, if you want, you can apply the inputs. For example, a<='0'; b<='1'; etc. But, if you want the inputs to change periodically, then you should at least apply one "enable" or "clock" pulse.
