Wow, what a misguided answer. Clearly someone who has no idea about the subject. In fact, the more research they do on caffeine, the more they learn that it isn't bad for you. Yes, if you have a lot of caffeine too close to sleeping you won't sleep or if you exceed 600mg a day then it will also keep you awake.

The truth is that caffeine does not cause or make worse any diseases or illnesses including cancer and high blood pressure. The spike in blood pressure that might come from caffeine is about the same as climbing a flight of stairs and very short lived.

First of all. drinking coffee will not work well because it contains other ingredients which generally block the effect of caffeine. And considering the average cup of instant coffee has only 70 mg of caffeine the average 60 kg person would need to drink about 4 cups just to get enough caffeine for effect. (It's 5 mg/kg of bodyweight needed for any effect. )

The best method is to just drink a caffeine tablet.

Now here are some facts, proven by research.

1) Caffeine does increase metabolism.

2) It burns fat and frees up fatty acids which are immediately burned. The fat burning is increased by 30% if you use it before exercise (never during). The break-down and burn only happen when you are active.

3) This one is a little technical but here goes. When you burn fat glycogen, glucose, and amino acids (blood sugars) are reserved. So blood sugar remains high. Basically low blood sugar=hunger=eating=gaining weight.

Oh yes, caffeine is a diuretic so make sure to drink plenty of water. And don't take it continuously. Take it for 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. You need to give your nervous system a break and stop your body from building up tolerance.

A final warning:

Do not use caffeine if you are pregnant or nursing. Have a risk of or are being treated for a heart condition. And consult your doctor before using them.

Does caffeine in tea affect the body differently than the caffeine in coffee?

A cup of coffee tends to have much more caffeine than a cup of tea.

Tea (including black tea, green tea, white tea, oolong tea, etc.) tends to have about 15-70mg of caffeine per 8 oz. cup, whereas the same size cup of coffee tends to have about 80-135mg of caffeine. You cannot generalize about one type of tea (black, green, etc.) containing more or less caffeine.

However, by dry weight, tea actually contains substantially more caffeine than coffee. This fact can be misleading, since when brewing coffee, one uses more coffee grounds by weight than one uses tea. Tea is very light, and typically, only 2-3 grams of loose tea leaf are steeped to produce an 8 oz. cup of tea.

The brewing method for tea (and to some degree for coffee) can have a large effect on the caffeine content. For tea, using more leaf, and steeping for longer times, can result in a much higher caffeine content in the finished cup.

Can caffeine be used in powder form?

Yes, but caffeine powder is to be mixed into drinks which would make then make it a liquid. If for some reason you're thinking of snorting it, don't. ___ The short answer is Yes. True caffeine powder might be hard to find. You might think that a caffeine tablet, like Stay-Awake would be 100% caffeine, but it's not. Too much caffeine can be harmful to people who are sensitive to it, or who have medical conditions and are restricted from ingesting caffeine. Also, drugging someone with caffeine, without telling them, might get you into trouble. There are seriously so many ways to get a caffeine "fix" if that's your thing. I've read of soaps (it can be absorbed through the skin) and doughnuts and every kind of drink imaginable. The liquid form is absorbed very quickly, and the only form I know of that is absorbed faster is the IV form, which is used in some medical applications. Don't take it too lightly, though - it is addictive, and there is some indication that use over time can result in mental health changes, such as anxiety disorders, OCD, etc. Not a place you want to go on purpose, trust me. As the first responder said; "If for some reason you're thinking of snorting it, don't." Sound advice - the substance is highly irritating to the mucous membranes, and anything that can addict you can't be that safe anyway. Try a "natural high" from getting a little exercise and an adequate amount of sleep.
