In the Greek Mythologies, Medusa was a monster described to having a hideous face with living venomous snakes in place of hair. She's the daughter of Phorcys and Ceto and the mother of Pegasus and Chrysaor. She was beheaded by the hero Perseus who used her head as a weapon afterwards until he gave it to the goddess Athena in place of her shield.

Athena was furious for being a priest of Athena you had to keep your maidenhood like the goddess. it was long ago i doubt anybody knows considering the fact that there are probably hundreds of myths that we don't no about since they have probably been destroyed or lost.
She was once the most beautiful goddess of them all.
But then when Aphrodite was born, she got jealous of Medusa. So she put a spell on Medusa so that she could become the most hideous goddess ever. And that is what happen to Medusa!!
