Jacob Marley's spirit is forever bounded by long, heavy chains that he unknowingly created for himself in life. These tied chains represent his life of greed, selfishness, obsession over money and mistreating the poor.

He didn't help anyone and wasn't a charitable person so he was condemned to eternally wander the Earth never to be at rest or peace.

In Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol," Scrooge's fiancee was named Belle, not Martha. Belle ended their engagement because she saw that Scrooge's growing obsession with money was consuming him and changing him into someone she could no longer love. This event played a significant role in shaping Scrooge's character and his journey towards redemption.

Marley's ghost appears to Scrooge to warn him of the consequences of his greed and selfishness, and to offer him a chance to change his ways before it's too late. Marley serves as a messenger to help guide Scrooge towards redemption and ultimately encourage him to embrace the spirit of giving and compassion.

He had lost many friend and family and saw good men who he felt were model businessmen suddenly go bankrupt. He felt that being "nice " didnt really matter and didnt save you from the workhouse so he determined to look solely to himself and make money

Yes, Marley is allowed back to the world of the living for a one time chance to persuade his friend and business partner to change his miserly ways in a hope that SCrooge does not suffer eternal torment.

Scrooge supports the establishment of his own business, a counting-house where he conducts financial transactions and manages his wealth. He is known for being a shrewd and diligent businessman who prioritizes profits and efficiency above all else.

The house was originally Jacob Marleys. Upon his death Scrooge took it over. He reneted some areas as offices and lodgings. He made himself a smaller area. It was sparsely furnished yet what was left was of good quality furniture. It was dark, lit only by sparingly placed candles and a small coal fires

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Ebenezer Scrooge is visited by four spirits: Marley's ghost, the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come.

This was from the 1970 musical film version called Scrooge. It was first sung by the ensemble, led by actor Anton Roberts at what turns out the be the funeral of Scrooge. It is reprised at the end by Scrooge and the ensemble after his transformation.

When Scrooge wakes up, we know he initially didn't believe what had happened to him because he dismisses the events of the night before as a dream brought on by a bit of "bad beef" or "undigested potato." He only starts to believe in the truth and impact of the visitations after realizing the profound changes in his behavior and mindset.

Dickens takes the reader back through Scrooge's own past using the ghost of Christmas Past as the facilitator. When asked by Scrooge whose past the ghost is showing the ghost replies they arevshadows of your past, they are the things that have been.

There were four spirits that visited Scrooge that night: the ghost of his dead partner Marley; the Ghost of Christmas Past, who "took" Scrooge back in time to Christmases--both good and bad--when Scrooge was younger; the Ghost of Christmas Present, who "took" him to his nephew Fred's home and the Crachit's home, to show him how joyously they were enjoying the season, in spite of being poor; and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, who "took" him into the future to scenes relating to Scrooge's own death.

The story is not in acts but in Staves. In Stave three, Scrooge encounters the Ghost of Christmas Present. The Ghost takes him through the "Christmas" or year that is current up to that very Christmas Eve and shows him lives of those he touch upon through that year but also brought about a wanting regarding Need and Ignorance of mankind and the outcome for everyone if these issues were not faced.

The Ghost of Christmas Present only lives until midnight because he is a representation of the current Christmas day. Once the day ends at midnight, his time is up, and he must depart as his purpose has been fulfilled. This limitation emphasizes the transient nature of the present and the importance of making the most of the time we have.

Scrooge under-paid Cratchit, treated him badly, knew nothing about his home life, threatened to fire him, and (apparently) barely viewed him as a human being.

At the end of the play "A Christmas Carol," Scrooge provides financial support for the Cratchit family by raising Bob Cratchit's salary, ensuring Tiny Tim receives proper medical care, and becoming a generous, caring employer overall.
