Can you take 20 mg of Ambien?

Yes, you should be able to take 20mg of ambien without causing any damage to your body. The most I've ever taken at once was 60mg and lived to tell the tale. However, keep in mind that everyone reacts differently to most drugs; if this is your first time you should work up to 20mg.

Why does Zolpidem work some night and not other nights?

ALL THIS IS MERELY ANNECDOTAL, BASED ON PERSONAL EXPERIENCE USING THE SLEEP AID DURING "ROUGH" PERIODS OVER THE PAST FOUR YEARS. The time you take your nightly dose, and the activities you engage in immediately before and after ingesting the pill, have relevant impacts on how fast, as well as the duration of ambien. From personal experience, Ambien becomes less effective the longer you have been using it for a sleep aid. Most effective is to make ready for bed/sleep at approximately the same time for each dose. This provides some of the psychological "body background" of "it's time to sleep", and will help the initial drowsiness of Ambien get you over the "sleep hump" and then keep you there rather effectively (especially the ER - extended release - or - CR controlled release.) In my experience, I would rate the different common formulations as follows, from best to worst, both at inducing sleep and keeping me asleep for 7-8 hours: 1- Ambien CR 12..5 mg (brand name, best quality, but most expensive, and some insurers won't cover this unless your doctor convinces them that none of the below work for you) 2-Zolpidem ER 12.5 mg (generic version of the above, but does not seem to have reliable ability to induce sleep as quickly, but still generally maintains sleep for 7 to 8 hours, once you fall asleep) -- insurance often does not cover this, either, and the price difference from brand name is very small. May as well go with the real dea, if you can afford it. How much is sleep worth to you? 3- Zolpidem 10 mg similar (generic Version without any controlled release or extended-release quality; this is the least effective of the three formulations of Zolpidem) Key here is to use sparingly, if possible. Ambien and it's formulation work well for the first two weeks. Taking them longer than that can lessen their effectiveness. Taking higher doeses does not seem to help.

Can Ambien be taken with Benzonatate?

Yes, this is safe. Benzonate is not a sedating cough medication, so you can take your tranquilizer if you need it. Remember to swallow the benzonatate capsules whole with a full glass of water. Do not chew or dissolve them in your mouth. This will result in uncomfortable numbness of the throat.

What is ambien good for?

Ambien is a sedative used to treat insomnia and help a person sleep. A reported side effect is sleep walking and other activities while asleep that the person has no memory of.

An ambien defense was unsuccessfully attempted in a homicide case where the defendant claimed to have no memory of the murder and blamed ambien for the behavior.

Can a teen take Concerta and Ambien together?

I agree that you should probably be asking a doctor these questions and not random strangers online but if it helps I have been prescribed Concerta and Ambien together. I'm not a teen though... I'm 25. Ambien isn't one you would want to be on for a long period of time. One normally ends up having to up the dose.

Can taking 300 mg of zolpidem kill you?

No.

I'm thinking of doing it sometime, just to see how it is. It's a weak drug for myself.

I don't suggest you do it.

Anyway, the LD-50 (the lethal dose that killed 50% of the rats) is 695mg/kg.

Meaning for every kg you weigh, add 695mg, and that is the dose that should kill you.

Theoretically.

Chances are it's lower in humans, but 300mg for one person won't harm them. It will make you sleepy though.

Does Ambien cause sleep paralysis?

I had several episodes of sleep paralysis when I was using Ambien. Woke up, couldn't move, saw things. I stopped the drug and it never happened again.

TreatmentThis is very spiritual phenomenon, and it can be resolved instantly, even though most people are trying to put it in the medical realm. Go to StopSleepParalysis.org for some easy steps to fix it on your own, without wasting your money.

Can you take oxycodone and Ambien and Fentanyl together?

You could but it is very dangerous combination. Fentanyl and oxycodone are both pain killers but "if" prescribed by a physician and closely monitored could be used together for chronic and acute pain. Ambien is a sleep medication so you can take it as well however, once again, it is a potentially dangerous combination and let your physician know ALL of the medications you are taking and FOLLOW physician instructions. The risk for abuse, dependence and death are high for all the medications on their own and even higher together.

Is Ambien a Benzodiazepine?

No. The most common categorization I have seen is as a "Hypnotic Sleep Aid," or simply a "Hypnotic." It doesn't fall under Benzodiazepines, Barbiturates, opiates, or any other one of the standard drug categories.

It's actually a non-benzodiazepine.

Even though the above is technically correct, it may possesses benzo-like properties. it's an atypical benzodiazepine receptor ligand. In lay terms: a partial benodiazepine receptor agonist.

It binds to the Benzo1 receptor only, whereas a drug like Valium binds to all the benzo receptors. So ambien may be more accurately defined as a BZ1 receptor specific benzodiazepine.

Is ambien addtive?

ambien is a fast acting sedative used for sleeping. It should not be taken for more than 7 -10 days because you build up a tolerance to it very fast where you will need more and more to get you to sleep. If taking for only 4-5 weeks every day and suddenly stop, you will likely develop physical and mental withdrawall which can include; nausea, vomoting, cramps, sadness, panic, nervousness and high discomfort feeling. thus, can become additive if not taken exactly as directed.

# zolpidem and fluvoxamine (Minor Drug-Drug) MINOR PROBLEM: Use of drugs that inhibit the isoenzyme CYP450 3A4 may decrease the metabolism and increase the plasma levels of zolpidem. This can result in increased clinical effectiveness and risk of toxicity associated with zolpidem. Monitoring for signs and symptoms of altered zolpidem effect is recommended. Patients should be advised to notify their physician if they experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, confusion, daytime sedation, dizziness, or unconsciousness. A reduction in zolpidem dosage may be necessary. ----

Why do people snort Ambien?

Because the effects are stronger and come on faster. But it might burn your nasal cavity. Some Ambien comes in time release pills, however this time release can be circumvented by crushing the pill. If crushed, Ambien tastes very bitter and will cause a bit of nausea if swallowed crushed. That's why people snort it, so they won't have to swallow and get nauseas. Crushing any pill is contra indicative. But people do it because it makes for a stronger buzz.

Can you take Ativan and Ambien together?

Disclaimer: I am not a pharmacist or medical doctor. Please check with one of these before taking my word for this, just to be safe. This is based on my personal experience and subsequent discussions with my doctor.

Sure, you can take them together, as long as you are taking no more than the prescribed doses of each. You probably will not want to, though. Ativan and Ambien bind competitively to the same receptors, with Ativan having a higher affinity.

In other words, the Ativan will overpower the Ambien. You will get little to no effect from the Ambien. You might as well be flushing the Ambien down the toilet (though please don't do that, take unwanted drugs to your local pharmacy for safe disposal).

Ativan is digested relatively quickly, so if you plan to take Ambien for sleep, you could probably get away with a noon or even afternoon dose of Ativan that day, if you take daytime doses, but you may have to experiment a bit to figure out what works for you.

Can you mix Lithium and Ambien?

Lithium is not listed as a drug with major interactions with Ambien. But it is listed as having moderate interactions. It probably is listed as such because it can have a depressive effect on the central nervous system and respiratory system. If these are the only 2 things you are taking that have that effect, it probably is not going to be a major issue. Otherwise it probably would be listed as having major interactions.

But the more of these types of substances you take that depress those systems (including alcohol), the more likely it is to cause a major problem.

I am not a doctor and this is only my opinion. Your best bet would be to consult a doctor or a pharmacist.

Is Ambien over the counter in Aruba?

No, Ambien isn't supposed to be over the counter. It's a prescription medicine. It usually is prescribed for the short term treatment of insomnia. It's one of the trade names of zolpidem. Zolpidem is one of the most common sleeping medications prescribed in the Netherlands.

Prescriptions may be filled in Aruba. But they need the involvement of a doctor before the pharmacy staff can complete the order. In Aruba a pharmacy is called a 'botica'.
