Revolver rounds use the case rim to assure proper head space so they are more interchangeable. The 9mm and 380 are made for auto-loaders and they use the case length, rather than a rim, to determine proper head space. Because of that you can't shoot a 380 through a 9mm.

Can a bullet go through a brick?
