What type of ammo and what type of box did you have in mind, specifically? Commercial pistol cartridges are usually sold 50 in a box, although specialised loads may come in smaller boxes. Commercial rifle cartridges typically come 20 in a box. Military munitions boxes vary, dependent on the load. A box of 7.62x51 linked contains 200 rounds. A box of .50 contains 100 rounds.

Head space is the distance between two points in a firearms chamber. In firearms that use rimmed cartridges this measurement is between the bolt face and the face of the chamber. With rimless cartridges the measurement is between the bolt face and the datum line on the shoulder of the cartridge case. This datum line is specific for each caliber.

Basically head space measures how much the cartridge can move within the chamber when the action is closed. Excessive head space can cause the casing to slide rearward and rupture, allowing gas to violently escape, and causing potential injury to the shooter or bystanders. As well as damage the firearm. Insufficient head space can prevent the bolt from closing or compress the bullet further into the case causing an increase of gas pressure when the round is fired. This may result in a similar condition as excessive head space, hot gas escaping the action and potentially harming the shooter or those in close proximity.

Military firearms have more lenient tolerances for head spacing, so the firearms can accept a wide variety of ammunition and weather conditions. They are designed to compensate for this wider tolerance. Civilian firearms have less tolerance, therefore proper head space becomes more important.

Spiral grooves are etched or cut into the inside of the barrel. These grooves are called rifling. As a lead bullet moves down the barrel, it heats and expands slightly. The edges of the bullet catch in the grooves and the bullet spins.

The spinning motion helps the bullet to maintain a straighter course. A projectile that does not spin will begin to curve or tumble, wasting energy and moving off course. The spinning projectile keeps the nose end in front so that the bullet stays close to the target.

You can actually see the effect of the spinning by firing tracer bullets at a target at least 100 yards away. The dye on the surface of the bullet leaves a visible spiral in the air which can be observed for a few moments if the light is right.

CCI Stinger ammo has the fastest velocity at 1650 feet per second but it may be harmful to your gun due to increased compression ratios check and see if cci stinger is compatible with your firearm.

When the cartridge fires, it ignites gunpowder inside the cartridge case. Burning of the powder quickly produces a large volume of high pressure gas. This expanding gas pushes in all directions, but the bullet is the only part that can move. The expanding gas pushes the bullet through the barrel, and out of the gun.

Reuse? Probably not. Recycle? Definitely. The bullet is squeezed down as it is pushed through the barrel, and would not be a good fit even if not deformed by the impact. However, lead bullets can be melted, and cast into new bullets. It does require a large heat source, tools, and a bullet mold.

Hydro Shock is a brand name for a hollow point bullet. It's one of the better ones.

It's Newton's law that every action has an equal and opposite reaction. The bullet goes away from the person firing. It has a very small mass but a very high speed. The opposite reaction is the gun moving backwards, but since its mass is much higher than the bullet, its speed in much lower.

have a 9mm and my bullets keep getting stuck in chamber why..does it need cleaning or is there a problem with the gun

I have seen it done. It will fail to eject or fail to fire. Don't have a box of .380 present while shooting 9mm.

The Heckler & Koch MP5 submachine gun fires a 9x19mm cartridge, which has an overall length of 19.69 millimeters, and a rim diameter of 9.96 millimeters. The bullet itself has a diameter of 9.01 millimeters, with length depending on the type of bullet (ie jacketed, unjacketed, hollow-point).

The M60 itself weighs about 23 lbs... as for the ammo box, I can't tell you how much that'll weigh, as it'll be dependent on the dimension, what padding there is in it, what material it's made from.
