Grain is a unit of weight. There are 7000 grains in a pound. The number of grains loaded intoeach cartridge will vary, dpending on the cartidge, and on the powder used. IF it were 7 grains per catridge, you could reload 1000 cartridges. Divide 7000 by the weight of powder for each cartridge.

I assume you mean the M134 Minigun - but the term is also used with other powered Gatling Guns. The M134 has a selectable rate of fire from 2,000 to 6,000 rounds per minute.

The stripes of the lands and grooves will be on the sides of the bullet. If the bullet is "stripping" through the rifling of the gun, the striations (proper name for the rifling marks) will be smeared.

The Ranch models, G/B models, and AC556, yes - those have a 5.56 chamber. The target models, no - those have a dedicated .223 Remington chamber.

Depends. If you mean the Ruger Mini-14 or Ranch Rifle, yes, you can. It is chambered for .223 and 5.56x45 ammo. If you read the owner's manual (available on the Ruger website) it will tell you that on page 13. The Target Model is ONLY for .223. Of course, the 6.8mm and the Mini-30 use different ammo entirely.

Depends on the rifle shooting it. In a well made bolt action, it is an accurate cartridge to around 500 yards. For ETHICAL big game hunting, range should be limited to 300 yards or less- the 80 grain bullet will lose energy, making a clean kill in doubt at very long range,

Most of the Iver Johnson .38s were in caliber .38 S&W, not .38 Special. The .38 S&W is shorter, slightly fatter, and less powerful. Check with large gun stores.

Recoil is the reaction of speed x mass of the bullet, producing recoil (reaction) consisting of speed (of the rifle moving) x mass (of the rifle). As for your question, whatever you have, I'm almost 100% certain it won't be compatible with a .44 Magnum firearm. The only cartridge backwards compatible with the .44 Magnum is the .44 Special, and even that has limitations. .44 Special can be fired in a .44 Magnum revolver, but you need to check with the manufacturer before attempting this with a rifle, as the rifle will have a headspaced chamber.

Depends on the ammo. For some of the military surplus calibers, it may be an on-line dealer. For everyday civilian calibers, one of the stores like Wal-Mart with a sporting goods department.
