As for your question, whatever you have, I'm almost 100% certain it won't be compatible with a .44 Magnum firearm. The only cartridge backwards compatible with the .44 Magnum is the .44 Special, and even that has limitations. .44 Special can be fired in a .44 Magnum revolver, but you need to check with the manufacturer before attempting this with a rifle, as the rifle will have a headspaced chamber.

Depends on the ammo. For some of the military surplus calibers, it may be an on-line dealer. For everyday civilian calibers, one of the stores like Wal-Mart with a sporting goods department.

The Sheridan Blue Streak air rifle uses a 5mm pellet. This is about .20 caliber- larger than the .177 pellet, smaller than the .22 pellet. I have been able to get these at Bass Pro Shop. There are also at least 3 lots of them for sale on Ebay right now. Only the 5mm/ .20 caliber pellets will work in your rifle- do not try to substitute anything else.

The .303 British and .303 Savage are not the same. Only purchase the caliber that is printed on the barrel.

Let's get our terms straight- that is a CARTRIDGE casing. If the cartridge is loaded, there is no safe way to drill a hole in it- you could ignite the powder inside the case. They are made by drilling an UNLOADED cartridge case, and then inserting a bullet into the case. Please do not try to drill a loaded cartridge. REALLY bad idea.

Only certain ammunition is called a wadcutter. This is a type of bullet that has a flat front, and is tended for target shooting. On impact with a paper target, it clips a neat, clean hole in the target like a paper punch. In the US, military surplus 7.62x54R ammo (used in the M/N rifles) is about as cheap a centerfire cartridge a you will find. However, for a FIRST rifle, I would suggest a .22 LR for anyone.

Since there are multiple designs of bolt action rifles, there is no one answer. Your best bet will be to take it to a gunsmith. The tube feed rifles are more prone to jamming- usually with the cartridge elevator, and may require disassembly to remove a badly jammed cartridge. If you are not comfortable with your ability to disassemble and reassemble your rifle, you need a smith.
