How far can a 12 gauge gun shoot until the bullet starts to drop?

Technically a 12 gauge shotgun does not shoot a single bullet. It fires small lead balls from .25 inches in diameter to 1mm in diameter or less. Shotguns are also cabable of firing a slug which is esentially a very heavy bullet. The range depends on the angle of the barrel relative to the ground. in theory it begins to drop as it exits the muzzle.

How far can you shoot a 12 gauge gun until the bullet starts to drop?

Due to gravity, the bullet starts to drop the second it leaves the barrel. You can calculate the drop by factoring mass and velocity with gravity (9.8 m/s²).

What is difference between a 38 caliber bullet and a 9mm bullet?

Not muchThe diameter of a .38 special bullet is 0.358 inch, which is 9.09 mm.

ALOT. the diameter isn't the only thing to consider. although the calibers are close the 9mm and 38 special are no where near each other. a 9mm is usually 9 x 19mm and is 115-124 grains and a 38 special is approx. 9.07 x 39mm near 160 grains and obviously packs more of a punch. fire a 9mm and then a 38 special and it will make sense.

What choke would a 16 gauge single shot Iver Johnson Champion have and is it safe to use with two and three quarter inch shells if they are marked express long range?

Most shotguns of this time period will have a full choke. As to the shells,I would hold the power down to game loads(low brass)16 gauge shells due to the inheriant weakness of the steel over time and as constructed back during that time span.

Would there be a problem if you used 22 WRF ammo in a marlin made to use 22 WMR ammo?

YES

AnswerI partially agree with the person who said "yes". Due to a difference in cartridge length, a .22 WRF (Winchester Rim Fire) may not function in the magazine of a gun built for the .22 WMR (Winchester Rim Fire Magnum). However, I was told by a gunsmith years ago that firing the old Remington .22 Special round, or the .22 WRF round, would be acceptable in a .22 magnum. My brother and I shot up several boxes of each in Ruger single-action .22 magnum revolvers and they worked fine. I doubt, though, that they would work properly in a magazine-fed gun, as the different cartridge lengths might cause feeding problems. This is pretty much a moot point, though, as both the WRF and Remington .22 Special rounds are hard come by, if you can find them at all. They are expensive too, as they are so out of date that cartridge collectors tend to buy them up. There's really no point anyway, as the .22 Magnum outperforms both of the older, outdated rounds by a significant margin, and costs less to boot. So, they might cause feeding problems in magazine fed guns, but they work fine once you get them into the chamber of the gun in question. Whether a particular manufacturer would approve of this practice is another matter.

-- Answer --

The second answer is exactly right. The .22WRF and the .22 Magnum are the same case diameter, but the .22 Magnum is slightly longer.

-- Another Answer --

If you have an older rifle chambered for the .22 WRF, a .22 WMR shell MAY load, but DO NOT attempt to fire it with this more powerful cartridge. Excess use of the shorter WRF in a WMR gun may cause enough chamber erosion that the longer cartridges may no longer chamber easily. I have seen .22 S-L-LR guns that would not chamber a long or long rifle cartridge after excessive use of shorts.

Answer:

According to "Cartridges of the World" the 11th edition, you can safely fire 22 wrf in a 22 wmr. Check it out, but i have not tried it. I do, however, sell and deal in ammunition for a living.

How do bullets kill people?

A bullet is little more than just a rock that was thrown very fast. When someone shoots at someone else, the bullet is "thrown" out the end of the firearm at high speed. When the bullet hits a person or other animal, it goes through clothing, skin, organs and bone. Depending on the organ that has been damaged, a person may die immediately, die later from complications or survive and eventually heal. Sometimes people bleed to death. Sometimes, as when the heart or brain is hit, the victim dies immediately. If someone threw a rock hard enough, the difference would be negligable.

Unfortunately this is a typical problem with this model. Some relieveing around the entrance to the chamber may help, but it's best to stick with .357 in this model Marlin.

Where can you buy ammunition for a Winchester 10 gauge lever action shotgun?

Any sporting goods store should have at least a few boxes of 10 gauge shells, but probably not a large selection. You have a shotgun that is between 76 and 119 years old in 2006. Before you buy any ammunition, have the gun checked by a competent gunsmith and if he approves it he should also recommend the proper load. Even the oldest of these Winchesters should be OK with smokeless powder, but I doubt if any would stay together through a box of heavy magnum shells.

How do you clean white corrosion off lead bullets?

I honestly do not think it would be a wise idea to shoot corroded bullets despite the fact you cleaned them. Gun safety is always a must, so you must treat every scenario you are shooting the gun in, and guess the worst that could possibly happen.

Now, by taking that approach, you'll realize any type of bullet that is corroded will NOT and I repeat NOT be safe to fire. So your best bet would be to discard to bullets at a shooting range, or check what you do with the bullets according to your state laws.

What is the best kind of ammunition for target shooting for a 22 caliber rifle is there a recommended brand?

There are many brands. .22 rifles are generally quite finicky, so you will need to experiment with different brands until you find one that your rifle shoots well. Eley 10X and CCI Green Tag are two of my favorites. Federal is my favorite cartrige, DO NOT BUY WINCHESTER ROUNDS

Is the bullet diameter for an 1892 Winchester 32 WCF different from the 32-20 and 32-40?

Yes. The .32/20 uses a slightly smaller diameter bullet than the .32/40. Also, since the .32/40 used heavier bullets they are proportionately longer. Bullets designed for the .32/40 are not compatible with the .32/20. Consult any current reloading manual for starting loads and bullet choices.

Why do Savage 223 Rem rifle barrels have a 1 in 9 twist in when most bullet manufacturers suggest 1 in 12 or 1 in 14?

The 1:12 or 1:14 are old recommended twist rates for the .223, to stabilize the shorter lighter bullets. 1:9 is considered optimal for the current heavier bullet (62gr for example) loading and yet will still do an acceptable job with the 55gr bullets. Look at loading data for bullets OVER 52gr and see what twist rate they recommend. sales@countrygunsmith.net

What is the best bullet for model 710 7mm Remington magnum?

It depends on what you are using it for. Target? Hunting? If it is for hunting, what are you hunting? For Mule Deer I like the Barnes Triple shock as it doesn't blow up the deer like other bullets do. In fact I shot a deer last year and it had little meat damage at all. The deer dropped where it was shot at about 100 yards. I believe it works so good because it doesn't have any lead and retains virtually 100% of its weight so it doesn't fragment and send shards of lead and bone throughout. I had been trying to find the best bullet for the 7mm Rem Mag for years for deer as I had destroyed plenty of meat, escpecially on doe. I had used the Winchester fail safe (could have been ballistic tip) but it didn't seem to work very well. I don't know if it even expanded in the deer. It may have been good for doe. I shot the buck at about 75 yards in the hind quarters (oops) then I tracked him and flushed him about 10 yards from me, shot him in the chest, he fell down, got up, I shot him in the chest again, he fell down and seemed like he was still trying to stand up. My magazine was empty at that time so I pulled the .357 mag off my side and finished him off with a shot to the neck. For elk, a heavier bullet will work better, but I haven't used the barnes but I would venture that the same bullet would work as well. Just don't use heavy bullets with antelope or deer unless they are Barnes Triple Shock, you will put a hole in them big enough to stick two fists through! Hope this helps.
