What was Incas government?

About 12 million people lived in the Inca Empire. To rule this vast empire, the Incas formed a strong central government. The Incas didn't want conquered peoples to have too much power. So to prevent this, they made the leaders of conquered areas move out of their villages. Then they brought in new leaders. These leaders were loyal to the Inca government. The Inca government controlled the economy. Incas 'paid' their government in labor, instead of paying taxes. This labor tax system was called the mita. Under the mita, the Inca government told each household what work they had to do.

Che Guevara

Was Che Guevara evil?

This is a really controversial topic that has no true answer to. Evil is based on whether or not the person nows truly that there actions harm others. Che fought for the poor and in his mind any actions taken to bring about socialism was justifiable. But he admitted, in his diary, to committing murder, land seizure, and executions.

Here are some quotes from his diary.

  • "Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any enemy that falls in my hands! My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood. With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial howl!"
  • "We don't need proof to execute a man. We only need proof that it's necessary to execute him. A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate."
  • "He went into convulsions for a while and was finally still. Now his belongings were mine." This is his written account of his victim's, a Castro rebel, actions after Che shot him.
  • "I'd like to confess, papa', at that moment I discovered that I really like killing."
A Little MoreBy every account, even the accounts of his supporters, Che was a killer. He murdered one on one and ordered the wholesale killings of dozens of people. By most measures, he would likely qualify as an "evil person."

Why did people hate Eva Peron?

She was loved by millions and also hated by many people. Commoners, the poor & working class Argentines were usually the ones who loved her. Those who hated her tended to be from the upper classes where they looked down on her humble origins as the daughter of a man's mistress. After her father died, she, her mother and her siblings were left poor and shunned. When she reached sexual maturity, Eva had a string of relationships with increasingly powerful and influential men as her way of improving her lot in life. Many saw this as immoral and scandalous. Others looked, and look, at this behavior more sympathetically or even with admiration: They see a poor, downtrodden woman with the courage, smarts and looks to be able to improve her lot as well as the lot of many common Argentines in the face of seemingly insurmountable obstacles.
