The franchise was formed in 1946 and known as the Buffalo Bisons. After only 13 games in its inaugural season, owner Ben Kerner moved the team to Moline, Illinois. (At that time, the area was known as the "Tri-Cities" (Moline, Rock Island, Illinois, and Davenport, Iowa.), though today it is called the Quad Cities). Kerner renamed the team the Tri-Cities Blackhawks; the Blackhawks were named after the Black Hawk War that was mostly fought in Illinois.
In 1951, the franchise relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and shortened their nickname to simply "Hawks"

The Blackhawks' first owner, Frederic McLaughlin, named the hockey team in honor of the military unit he had been a commander of called the "Blackhawk Division", nicknamed after a Native American of the Sauk nation, Chief Black Hawk , who was a prominent figure in the history of Illinois.

The Atlanta Hawks has 1 NBA championship (1958) and 4 conference titles. The franchise was formed in 1946 as the National Basketball League's Buffalo Bisons. On May 2, 2010, the Hawks defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in game seven of the series, advancing to the 2nd round against the Orlando Magic. However, like the previous year, after winning a hard-fought 7th game, they succumbed in a four game sweep. Joe Johnson dissed the fans here after rightly booing his poor, lazy, and selfish performance. They have yet to advance past the Conference Semifinals since moving to Atlanta in 1968.

Iver Johnson started making firearms in 1870 as Johnson and Bye. I don't know exactly when they made their first 38 caliber gun, but at least as early as 1893, and they continued to manufacture .38 revolvers until they closed in 1978. A great source of information on Iver Johnson firearms is The book "Iver-Johnson Arms & Cycle Works Firearms 1871-1993" by W. Goforth
