Not all coins need a mintmark. All Australian 1919 Pennies were minted in Melbourne.

For reasons that are not explained, most 1919 Australian Pennies had no mintmark, others had a dot above the top scroll and below the bottom scroll, and others had a dot below the bottom scroll.

The original 1966 was round and had an 80% silver content with 20% copper.

All subsequent 50 cent coins were 12 sided and had no silver in them at all. They are made from 75% copper and 25% nickel.

Other than the 1966 coin, all Australian 50 cent coins are potentially still in circulation so, unless they are part of a proof set or are uncirculated and in absolute mint condition, they are worth 50 cents.

It is a declaration informing you where the banknote will be accepted as Legal Tender or, where you can use the note to settle a debt.

In the case of an Australian banknote, it can legally be accepted anywhere in Australia and its Territories, and not be refused.

If you were to use the currency of another country to make a purchase or settle a debt in Australia, the person owed the money has every right to refuse any payment made in non-Australian currency.

The banknotes of most countries will carry a similar declaration in respect of their own currencies and countries/territories.

No. Only the 1988 and 1989 Australian 2 Dollar coins have HH on them. HH is the initials of the designer (Horst Hahne) of the reverse side of the coin.

All years of the Australian Two Dollar coin are potentially still in circulation and are therefore worth Two Dollars, unless they are Mint Uncirculated or Proof coins.

The initials do not make the coin worth any more or less.

As far as general circulation coins are concerned, easily the most valuable Australian Penny is the 1930 Penny and the most valuable Halfpenny would be the 1923 Halfpenny.

An uncirculated, mint condition Five Australian Dollar note is worth about $8.00. In used condition it is worth $4.62.

It can be worth anywhere from 1 cent - $4.00 it all depends on the grade of the coin.

Australia puts famous or historically significant Australian identities on its banknotes.

The original paper Australian Twenty Dollar note (1966-1993) had Sir Charles Kingsford Smith (aviator) on the front and Lawrence Hargrave (aeronautical pioneer) is on the reverse.

The current polymer Australian Twenty Dollar note (1994-present) has Mary Reibey (ex-convict & pioneer business woman) on the front and Rev John Flynn (pioneer of world's first aerial medical service) is on the reverse.

These coins are potentially still in circulation so, unless they are part of a Proof or Uncirculated mint set or are individual Proof or Uncirculated coins and in absolute mint condition, they are worth 20 cents.
