At first, the Aztecs thought that the Spaniards were gods because of their shiny armors and their weapons. When the Spaniards conquered them and onward, however, they feared them.

Hernan Cortez arrived at Tenochtitlan in 1519, so probably around this time.

They had more people than Cortes's crew. But Cortes's crew had more people. More weapons like rifles. And gold and iron armor. The Aztecs won the first fight but when Cortes fought them again the Aztecs lost including there Leader. They also took all the gold and iron. And also they destroyed the city and made a new one. They called it New Spain and they also made the houses look like the houses in Spain. He lived rich but unfortunately he died with no wealth.
