Pronounced gunnel, the word is properly spelt gunwale in standard Englsh.
This refers to the upper edge of the side of a boat, and is usually used in the plural.... the ship was loaded to the gunwales with treasure.

if you are under 21 then you need to pass a boaters education test. Boats US do a free one on their website. Type in to Google Boats US online course and its the first one. Once you have done that send it tow FWC. Their address is on the Boats US website aswell. Then you'll get sent your boaters id card and as long as you have that on you aswell as a photo id aswell you'll be ok.
But this is only by yourself. An under 21 doesn't need one if someone is on the boat over 21 or between 18 and 21 with a safety card.
If the boat is less than 10 hp you need nothing.
Any more info on Boats US or FWC website.

I'm more familiar with boat propellers but I don't think this can be answered as it stands. You would need to know various factors, such as aircraft resistance, which would be influenced by factors such as aircraft shape and attitude (and hence drag), air temperature, and air pressure. Colder air and lower air pressure would lower air viscosity, which would in turn lower aircraft drag. But the propeller requires a certain air viscosity to function at its greatest efficiency, so you'd need to take that into account. You would also need to know the propeller pitch - the forward movement the propeller travels during a revolution

The MV Commander is the longest continual service ferry boat in current operation. Im unsure if it is the longest all time though.
I can't say if its the longest in history, but the SS St. Mary's Challenger has been in service for over 100 years (mostly as a cement carrier). And since ships tend to last much longer on the Great Lakes because of the fresh water, I'd think she could possibly be the longest serving overall. The oldest licensed passenger crossing runs across the Thames in England from the town of Hampton to Molesey Hurst. The earliest known record of ferry operation here was in 1514 making it about 500 years old. The Hampton Ferry has not used the same boat for this length of time though so it is not the oldest ferry boat, yet it does remain the oldest licensed crossing...still an impressive feat for such a humble ferry.
