For vampires to be able to survive speed was a neccessity. They needed it to be capable to attack their prey of small helpless male dinosaurs, without being mutilated by the parents. I mean everyone knows that the bond between a dinosaur and its parent is even greater than that of a humans, any pre-school book can tell you that.

Any group of vampires that attempt mutual support have developed their own set of secret signs, passwords, rules of obedience etc. As vampire groups are small, scattered and mostly non-communicative so these signs are not universal, nor do they perfectly overlap in meaning and function.
