Beekeepers will feed their bees sugar-syrup before winter and in early spring - a mixture of water and sugar.
Only if you get them mad.
We get bees from our hives coming into the house - I can usually coax them onto my hand, then just walk outside and shake them off.

Bees are kept in drawer like cabinets called beehives. The boxes have frames ( up to twelve) with wires and a wax foundation for them to build their honeycomb on. The top boxes (called 'supers') are for honey storage, and the lower boxes are for brood ( raising the young bees). This part is where the queen bee lives.
A collection of hives is called an apiary.
Individual colonies are kept in hives. A group of hives together is called an apiary.
What colours are bees attracted to?
Pretty well any bright colour, but we have to bear in mind that a bee's colour vision is different from our own. They can see ultra-violet light, which we can't, but are not able to see light from the red end of the spectrum, their vision sensitivity starting at around orange.
Propolis is a sticky resin exuded by trees - particularly conifers - and collected by bees. They use it to repair and waterproof the hive and it can be a problem for beekeepers because it not only sticks parts of the hive together but it can gum their hands or gloves up too!
Propolis is reckoned to have antiseptic and medicinal properties.

Keep bees away from backyard party?
My Husband is highly allergic to bees, so i have had this problem. We had pest control come out and gave us very helpful hints and procedures to keep reoccurring nests from forming. First take down any nests that are currently formed. And once they are down Rub a moth ball on the spots of the house, tree, garage, ect.. that they were on. The chemicals in a moth ball help the bees to become confused and disorganized. Also if you are scared to actually take down the nest, there are sprays and chemicals that can be applied to the nest to kill all bees in side and any larve that haven't matured. Hope this helps!!
Bees can produce buzzing sounds by the rapid movement of their wings. The buzzing noise is created when the wings beat against the air at a high frequency. Bees use this buzzing sound for communication within the hive and to signal danger or excitement.

How do you harden a beehive to preserve it?
I've been trying to answer this question for myself, and have found several answers, depending upon which type of beehive you want to preserve. My husband found a hornet's nest fallen on a trail in the woods, so he brought it home for me. Since then, I have been trying to figure out how to preserve it. So far I have read that for a hornet's nest: * you can spray it occasionally (and very lightly) with an aerosol hairspray,
* just hang it up in a place in the house where it will least likely be touched and be subject to vibrations, and
* I found more information on the following link: http://www.ipm.iastate.edu/ipm/iiin/bhornets.html I hope this helps, although your question was specific to hardening it. I also read that you can put a light coat of acrylic finish on it (like what you would use for wooden furniture), however when I read this there was information to the contrary regarding the fact that this is unnecessary, but that would again depend on whether the objective of hardening the hive was to preserve it. My next step is that I am going to stop by my local taxidermist and confirm whether there are other options that I have been unable to find on the internet. Good Luck!
