Why does Bill Cosby have Ph.D behind his name?

In 1976, Cosby earned a Doctor of Education (Ed.D) degree from the University of Massachusetts. For his doctoral research, he wrote a dissertation entitled, "An Integration of the Visual Media Via 'Fat Albert And The Cosby Kids' Into the Elementary School Curriculum as a Teaching Aid and Vehicle to Achieve Increased Learning".

Bill Cosby never earned a Ph.D., and it is therefore inappropriate to place "Ph.D." behind his name. The difference between a Ph.D. and an Ed.D. is significant.

Ph.D. curriculum typically emphasizes more breadth and depth in theory and research methodology than the Ed.D. Ph.D. programs typically emphasize deeper knowledge about specific topical areas, and often require twice the course work of an Ed.D, with special emphasis in research and teaching. Ed.D. programs typically emphasize less rigorous "practical interests", such as clinical work and surveys.

Bill Cosby has received multiple "honorary degrees", most commonly a degree called a "Doctor of Honorary Letters". But Cosby has never received a Ph.D.

Persons who have never earned a Ph.D. engage in questionable ethics by appending the title "Dr." in front of their name. Although at one time, it was considered appropriate for the recipient of an honorary degree to call themselves "Dr.", generally, this is no longer the case. This is because in the mid-Twentieth Century, universities began the practice of bestowing honorary doctoral degrees on large donors to the university, thereby diluting the implied importance fo the title, and creating controversy in professional circles.

Bill Cosby famously stumbled into this ethical controversy in the 1980's by prefixing his name with the title "Dr." in the credits of a few of the episodes of "The Cosby Show". However, following complaints from viewers, he soon removed the appellation "Dr." from his name in the credits.

What is the net worth of Kevin o'leary of shart tank?

It is difficult to determine the true net worth of Mr. O'leary. According to reports, he sold the Learning Company to Mattel for $3.2 billion. The equity stake was originally listed in Mattel's sec filings on his termination. At that point in time, Mr O'leary had 1,000,000 shares of Mattel that were restricted, was offered a severance of $5,000,000, had previously sold approximately $2,400,000 of Mattel shares listed as insider shares prior to the scandal and also had approx 500,000 options in Mattel (this is unconfirmed). Most of his shares were liquidated years later at approx $20.00 US.

Mr. O'leary has since pursued various other ventures:

- In 2003 he became co-investor and a director in Storage Now, it was acquired by the In Storage REIT in March 2007 for Gross Proceeds of $110 million. According to company releases, after mortgages, partnership interests, his share of net gross profit before taxes to Mr O'leary is approx. $7-10,000,000.

Todate these have been Mr. O'leary's largest net worth gains.

- He is founder of O'Leary Global Equity fund which manages assets in the tens of billions. The funds have raised approx. $250-300,0000,000 from inestors and have been leveraged to such large positions. However, bear in mind that the O'leary funds is a co branding exercise of the generic money management services offered by Stanton Asset Management. It may have limited value until a true track record over time is recorded.

- He is involved in Genpak, and has invested in numerous other companies.

Many will speculate that Mr. O'leary is a billionaire because of the confusion Mr. O'leary perpetuates by constantly associating his name with the word 'billionaire'. In addition, Mr. Oleary has not been listed with Business Week and its ranking of the 100 Richest Canadians. For that matter, neither has any other dragons, of Dragons Den . Robert Herjavec, Brett Wilson, Jim Treliving all have yet to be listed on the 100 Richest. The bench mark depending on the year and the market averages at least $300 million. Unless, the Dragons, including O'leary have managed to escape Business Week and its radar, they are all worth less than $300 million.

The best estimate of his liquid net worth, between 100 and 300 million is doubtful.

Was Bill Cosby in Star Trek deep space nine?

No. You may be thinking about Brock Peters who played Joseph Sisko, Benjamin's father in DS9. Incidentally, he also played a high ranking Federation member that appeared in several of the movies. He was in the operations station of Starfleet when Kirk and crew were returning to Earth in a captured Klingon Bird of Prey in ST4: The Voyage Home. Brock also played the same character as a Federation-Romulan collaborator in the Camp Kitomer incident, a major historical event which allied the Federation and the Klingon Empire, and also lead to the dishonor of Worf's father Mog, also played by Michael Dorn. Watch ST6: The Undiscovered Country. These two movies answer a lot of ongoing issues in the TNG and DS9 series relating to Worf and the Federation-Klingon alliance.
