Which Bird that lay one egg in two years?

Many bird species lay only one egg per clutch, including as an incomplete list:

  1. almost all pelagic seabirds
  2. many large raptors
  3. all flamingos
  4. many tropical frugivores
  5. many sunbirds
  6. some large parrots
  7. some Australo-Papuan insectivorous songbirds of heathland or rainforests
  8. most swifts that nest in hotter regions
  9. many nightbirds
  10. some bustards

As for birds that lay only one egg once a year, that would exclude many large seabirds, raptors and parrots that have such long fledging times that they can breed only every second year. (The obligately cooperative ground hornbills of Africa have such lengthy parental care that breeding normally occurs only every third year: they normally lay two eggs but siblicide means only one extremely high-quality nestling is usually fledged).

Fruit pigeons and many sunbirds lay only one egg but have a short enough breeding cycle that more than one clutch may be laid in the long tropical breeding season. The same may be true of the Australian Chowchilla.

You have mealy bugs worms in your bird seed If you put a moth ball in with the seed storage container will it kill the mealy bugs and not harm the bird when you feed him the seed I will removthe ball?

I have no idea what mealy bug worms are but old-fashioned mothballs are not recommended - the ones made from naphthalene. But you can use one of the fly/moth killer strips that are impregnated with dichlovos if you are in the US. (They are illegal in the EU). I have also used pyrethrum powder or even malathion powder placed under some newspaper that you then stand the seed on.

What kind of bird has a red body purple blue head and an orange beak and can be found on my porch eating seed in eastern Virginia?

I don't know but I just saw one with that exact description eating seeks on my deck. At first I thought it may have been a Cardinal with it's tuft ripped off (I've seen that before) but the head and back have way too much purple blue color instead of the brown molting color a Cardinal gets during the summer. Also, the bird in question is a bit bigger than a Cardinal. If I took a wild guess, I would say it's a cross between a Cardinal and an escaped parrot....

When driving uphill, gravity acts against your kinetic energy, requiring more energy to maintain speed. How do you keep birds from nesting in your retractable awning?

I took swimming noodles and stuffed them in the gap where the birds liked to nest, and it seems to have done the trick.

Many retractable awnings now retract without any gap between the home and the end of the awning. If you're getting a new awning, make sure they are using this type of new awning.

What are the characteristic of class aves?

Aves is part of the hierarchical system of classification, specifically the subphylum Vertebrata of the Phylum Chordata (animals that have back bones). Aves is the name of the class to which birds belong in taxonomy; the Class Aves. Aves is divided into 29 orders, with Passeriformes the largest with about 5000 species. Some of the other orders have as few as one species (like Struthioniformes, the ostrich order). The aves are commonly known as the "birds" (after all, that is what they are). * Both morphologically and biologically, they are highly adapted for flight although many species have lost the powers of flight. * They have scaly legs and feathers (which are specialized scales). Their bones are light (an adaption for flight), and are honeycombed in most species. The fore-limbs are highly modified that, along with their associated feathers, in most species are adapted for flight. * Further adaptations for flight include the urinary system that excretes nitrogenous waste as uric acid crystals, massive reduction in size of reproductive organs when not breeding, the development of only one ovary or testis when breeding, and a massive sternum to anchor flight muscles. * All species lay eggs * They are toothless animals, but have a beak * As certain times of year some species lay-down a fat layer for insulation and/or a food reserve that can be utilized in long migratory flights * They have a highly efficient cardiopulmonary system, with an endothermic heart (they are warm-blooded).
Characteristics of Aves are as follows : 1) Aves are oviparous, i.e., lay eggs 2) Aves do not have mammary glands. 3) Body of Aves are covered with feathers. 4) Aves do not have any teeth 5) Aves do not have cutaneous glands

What can you use to keep mud dubbers from building a nest?

bees, dirt dubbers and other similar insect families build nests somewhere on a porch or house awning etc. the easiest way i found to kill them and rid your house of their nest is gasoline. DO NOT IGNITE GASOLINE ONCE USED AS INSTRUCTED. get about one cup of gas and get as close to the nest as possible without getting too close and disturbing them. then very carefully sling the gas on the insects and their nest they will fly around for a few seconds and then die quickly in a matter of seconds. let the nest dry. when it drys the gas on it will leave a faint smell. not enough for you to smell it but they can. no new dubbers will live there. or you can just take it down. quick and easy. after the gas has dry there is no threat of setting anything on fire. i have done it many times. it works well.

How do you keep mourning doves away from a bird feeder of safflower?

To keep mourning doves away from a bird feeder with safflower seeds, you can try using a feeder with smaller openings that only allow smaller birds to access the seeds. Another option is to place the feeder in a more enclosed space or add a baffle to the feeder pole to deter larger birds like mourning doves. Finally, offering a separate feeder with seeds specifically tailored for mourning doves may help attract them away from the safflower seed feeder.
