How much does it cost to make and to remove a landmine?

There are many different varieties of landmines- cost to manufacture may range from around $3-5, up to $50 or more more more complex anti-tank mines. The cost of removal is relatively small, being mainly labor. However, the VERY high cost can be in LOCATING them. To do so safely may require equipment such as mine detectors, ground penetrating radar, etc. Once located, IF possible, they may be destroyed in place by a small explosive charge.
