In bowling what's the minimum length of the approach?
The minimum could be two to three steps. Depending on how big of a step you take, it could be two or three steps. I take five steps because I have small feet and I take small steps to take my approach. Most people take four steps because they think it is easier. Whatever is best for you.
What is the most difficult single pin for the right handed bowler to pick up for a spare?
A 4-6-7-9-10 or 4-6-7-8-10 split, according to a Slate Magazine analysis of thousands of pro bowling shots, is the hardest spare to pick up. The toughest spare you're likely to actually get stuck with is the 7-10...you pick this up by hitting one of the pins so hard it bounces off the sideboard or the backboard and flies into the other pin.
What will you need during a bowling game?
it depends if your bowling for fun theyll have everything you need at your local bowling ally
if your bowling for competition you might want to consider buying a bowling ball (straight ball instead of a ball with hook if you are a beginner). and if you know you will bowl alot and in a lot of tournaments and leagues you might want to buy your own set of bowling shoes.
the only other thing you would need would be a towel for your ball or balls, ball cleaner, and rosin (stuff you put on your hands to get better grip).
hope that helps
-Smart-
most things you need are at the alley already like shoes and a ball but i recomend getting your own shoes because the shoes there are constantly being used. (you can also bring a rag or powder but you don't really need it)
Why is a bowling ball harder to pick up?
Well, the typical bowling ball weight is between 8 - 16 lbs, and the length of a bowling lane is 60ft from the Foul line to the Pins. Let's do some math.
FΔt = Δp
F = Δp / Δt
= [mv(f) - mv(i)] / t
= [(7.0kg)(4.5m/s) - (7.0kg)(6.0m/s)] / 0.05s
= -210N
That means that a bowling ball is exerting about 210N of force. That's pretty self explanatory right there.

How can you pick up a 5-7-10 split?
There is no real 'scientific' way to shoot for the 7-10. Converting it takes absolute luck. I have seen it made 4 or 5 times and in each case, the bowler threw the ball very hard and hit one of the pins square on. The pin went back into the pit and then bounced out and got the other pin.

Why is the opposite pocket in bowling called Brooklyn?
It's only a Brooklyn strike if a right-handed bowler goes to the left of the headpin; a left-handed bowler would have to hit to the right side of the headpin instead.
The term originates from a long-standing rivalry between bowlers from New York and New Jersey. Whenever a New York bowler threw such a strike, his teammates would razz him by claiming that he had crossed the river into New Jersey. So New Jersey bowlers started claiming that any of their bowlers who threw such a strike had landed on the Brooklyn side.
In New York City and Long Island, the term 'Jersey strike' is still used. But for the rest of the country, the proper term for a crossover strike is a Brooklyn.

Will a 8-lb bowling ball dropped from the fifth floor drop before a 10-lb bowling ball?
Near the surface of the earth, all objects fall with the same acceleration; after any period
of time spent falling, all objects are falling with the same speed, and have fallen the same
distance. If there's any difference in falling behavior between two objects, it's the result of
air resistance. If they fall through a region where there is no air, a feather and a battleship
fall with the same acceleration. If they're dropped side by side, they stay side by side all the
way down.
This has been known for roughly the past 500 years.

There is no definite answer for when you are old enough to bowl. The youngest I have seen bowling are three or four years old. The lightest balls that some bowling alleys have are six pounds, but the standard lightest balls are 8 pounds. A three year old should be able to lift this, but they are only good for a game or maybe two.
