The control of pollution of the oceans is simple, in a way: Create less, don't dump material into the sea.
However some ocean pollution problems have gotten away from us:
- Carbon dioxide in the water is changing the H affecting marine organisms. Control will reuire all of the global warming solutions to recuce carbon dioxide emissions and time for natural processes to reduce the concentrations.
- Oil pollution is endemic over the seas. The removal f floating oils and emulsified ils will require natural removal and human interventon whereever the concentrations become high enough.
- Plastics in the ocean accumulate in the famous "trash vortexes" and will require mechanical harvesting and recycling to remove them

What does the captain do when oil spill occurs?

A offshore rig considered both an offshore installation (like a bouy) and a marine vessel (a boat). The captain (also called the Master) is in charge when the rig is underway, or being moved from one location to the other. When the rig is positioned over the well, and the riser is connected to the blow out preventers (latched in), the offshore installation manager or OIM is in charge.
During an oil spill from a rig, both the OIM and the Captain of the rig have very important responsibilities, which may overlap. Either may order activation of the emergency disconnect system (EDS) which will free the rig from the well. When a rig is on fire, the Captain orders an abandon ship command, and coordinates fire fighting activities, distress calls, and search and rescue operations. If the rig can disconnect from the well, the captain is fully in charge to move the rig from the blown out well as quickly as possible.
In some drilling operations, one person is both OIM and Captain.

The Spill onto the Washington Mall rally grew out of the collective action taken against BP as a result of the explosion. First, we started boycott pages on Facebook. Then we took to the streets, gas stations, and beaches. After many of the boycott managers got to know each other, we thought that more needed to be done. The rally grew out of those conversations.
We never ask who anyone votes for or what party anyone usually backs. We realize it's time for us to stop seeing each as enemies enemies, and that partisanism is a strategy to keep us divided.
