Did Springsteen ever play in Geneva NY near Hobart College?

Yes, Bruce Springsteen played Geneva New York on three occasions (that I know of). I was a member of the concert committee when he was first booked at Hobart & William Smith Colleges in fall of 1972, a relative unknown, replacing a lost contract with Dave Mason as headliner. Two years later as he was completing 14 months in the studio, working on his new album release, Born to Run, he decided to tryout his new show, by playing a couple of concerts out of the NYC area. I was concert chair at that time, and got a call from his management querying about a date in the Geneva Theatre, where he had played originally. He remembered having a good experience there. I booked him at the Geneve Theatre for the second time on Pearl Harbor Day, December 7,1974 and it was quite a media event. We had press from all over the eastern seaboard, anxious to check out his new act before the new album got released. A momentous evening, over three hours of music. Several months later in early summer 1975, Springsteen came back to the Geneva Theatre a third time, one of the early dates on his Born to Run tour.

Is Bruce Springsteen overrated?

No, I don't think so. I mean, I think some of songs are overplayed, but I wouldn't say he's overrated. If he were, he wouldn't be nearly as good as he actually is. You can't help but be impressed with the guy's talent. If you don't like Bruce, you're obviously sick in the head.
