A deep bruise, or a hematoma. Contusions of the femur can occur as a result of blunt trauma or a jammed bone, resulting in deep, aching pain.
People who do can have von Willebrand's disease that causes easy bruising. It's related to hemophilia. If you are Anemic this can happen too.
From a minor injury, a week to 10 days. A minor injury is, for example, striking your leg on a table leg or an accidental trip and fall. Bruises often look worse before getting better.
Brushing by an object, running into furniture, are the major causes of bruising on the stomach. Otherwise, being hit with enough force. Generally, more bruises occur on the arms, legs, and shins than anywhere else. Head bumps can also cause bruising.
I recently was playing football and was tackled and landed right on my humerus. I have been icing it 20 min on 20 min off and it feels a lot better already hope this helps:-)
Yes. Believe it or not, it is possible to bruise your eyeball. Rubbing your eyes too much or even poking your eye with your finger on accident can cause a bruise. However, this bruise is not visible. If it is not accompanied by other symptoms then it is most likely a bruise. Please be sure to visit your physician if the pain persists, or if the pain is accompanied by other symptoms.
Every bruise results in minor bleeding and a small blood clot. A blood clot is the body's natural way to stop bleeding and heal the site. If you mean cause a dangerous clot, a bruise is not in a vein. It is more a superficial injury. The only way a clot is dangerous is if it can travel to the heart or brain. Bruises don't cause clots that will travel.
How long? A couple minutes to a couple hours, to even a couple days. It all depends on what kind of impact caused the bruise.
As for what causes a bruise to appear, an impact against your body that doesn't break the skin may break the blood vessels under your skin. Possibly from crushing them against a bone or simply hitting the area too hard. The blood seeps out of the capillaries, but under the skin, creating a dark spot.
A small bit of force on the tissue can cause a bruise. For example, a girl has long hair. While brushing her hair, the hairbrush accidentally slips and hits her eye. Later, it turned into a bruise. A guy was putting on a pull over sweater. He smacks himself in the eye. Later, he has a bruise. A mom is holding her baby. The infant is holding a rattle. Unexpectedly, the baby smacks the mom's face with the rattle, resulting in a small bruise.
Foot injuries can take longer to heal. You might want to get an X-ray soon so you will know if it is just bruised or if it has a fracture.
If the foot is swollen or painful to stand on, elevate the foot. You can apply an ice pack wrapped in a towel, 10-15 minutes on then off for 15-30 minutes. You can re-apply ice. Just check the skin to make sure you aren't freezing it.
You can apply an ace bandage, if you know the right way to apply it. Start at the toes, and do an "8" overlapping as you go. Each time you wrap, you should be able to slide a finger under the material-- i.e. do not pull the wrap tightly. If after wrapping, the toes feel numb or being to change color, remove the wrap--it's too tightly applied. Leave off for a couple hours, then try re-wrapping it.
Edward accidently gave her the bruises while they made love for the first time on their honeymoon at Esme's Island.
you could be knocked out or if you are learning about the brain you in science you can get very dizzy because you would hit the Cerebrum( Part of the Brain).
What is the question? A 'contusion" is the technical/medical term for a bruise.
You should not massage a contusion like a bruise until 72 hours after the injury. Light bruises can be gently massaged as long as it does not cause pain as the massage can improve blood flow to the area.
Stop taking caffeine in coffee, soda, and chocolate. This has helped me reduce the frequency of lumps in my armpit. Now, I get lumps only when I treat myself to chocolate (I go caffeine free with soda and coffee). I can actually plan for a lump if I ingest caffeine. Nonetheless, you need to have it checked out by a doctor, because it could be related to lymph nodes or even breast tissue problems. If the lumps come and go, caffeine and check-ups may be all you need to control the problem. If the lump is constant, see a doctor immediately. Good luck.
A bruise (also known as a contusion) usually last about 2 weeks. You can determine the age of a bruise by the color of it. It usually is:
day 1-5 the bruise appears black or blue
day 5-10 the bruise is lighter and more or less green or dark yellow
day 10-14 the bruise turns yellow and then fades completely
A bruise does not always hurt. In fact, most don't. Pain would come from the underlying injury, not from the bruise itself. A bruise is simply blood in tissues from small broken blood vessels.
You can bruise yourself by knocking or hitting a body part. It does not have to be hit hard - just enough to burst a blood vessel beneath the skin.
It can be, its called a subdural hematoma - you might want a doctor to take a look.
we get bruises because it is bleeding under the skin which causes the discoloration. If you bump yourself and have a bruise athe next day its from bleeding under the skin. If however you always have bruises or bruise eaisly see your doctor.
You would typically think some type of trauma would cause this, like pounding with your palm, or carpal tunnel surgery could certainly cause bruising. A bruise is really a broken blood vessel, (or several together). Look for other areas of bruising on your body as well and if you find you are bruising a lot or for no reason, you need to go to your Dr to have your blood analyzed.
Not necessarily. A bruise may occur from what you thought was only a small bump, or when you are so busy doing something (especially in sports) that you don't notice the injury until a bruise actually forms. However, if you are prone to getting these bruises and particularly if there is a family history of haemophilia and other like diseases, you should consult a doctor, just in case.
