Is caffeine good for studying or memorizing?

Caffeine is a drug with mostly useful effects and limited negative side effects. It does improve alertness, so most people use it to stay awake or to feel more awake. Studies have shown that caffeine works best when taken in smaller doses - several normal-sized cups of tea or coffee over several hours instead of a "Venti" latte or other giant-sized espresso drink. Caffeine does not help you study or memorize, but it does help keep you more alert while you work.

I agree that smaller doses are much more beneficial then indulging in one large cup of coffee immediately. But despite studies that claim caffeine just keeps you alert and doesn't help you study, I happen to disagree. I can't study for more than an hour or two without some kind of caffeine. Maybe that's just me, but when I drink a cup of coffee slowly over a spread out period, I notice I study for hours attentively and process more information. I believe its the safest way to study longer and legally the most effective way.

Yes, that is what the original paragraph said - caffeine makes you more alert, and being more alert helps you to study more effectively.
