Calamity Jane, born Martha Jane Canary, was a 19th century frontierswoman. She is best known for her work as a professional scout, her friendship with "Wild Bill" Hickock, and her prowess in fighting American Indians. Calamity Jane is one of the central figures in American folk history, due to her fierceness on the field and the kindness and thoughtfulness she displayed in private.
She was not known to have operated in or around the Golden
state, as I incorrectly answered in the question which was about
her knowing tricks with her guns.
