The ghost of Christmas past is the ghost of a man who had lived a selfish life, but who in the afterlife came to regret his former selfishness. Being dead gives you a different perspective on things.

Money replaced compassion, generosity, and kindness in Scrooge's life. His pursuit of wealth became his sole focus, leaving no room for meaningful relationships or connections with others.

It was originally Marley's but the miserly Scrooge took ownership after Marley's death. Marley was opposite in his attitude to scrooge regarding spending money. He had a lavish lifestyle and the house was considered a town house in London which would have been expensive. When taking it over Scrooge broke the house in to apartments and a cellar in to a storage area for a wine merchant - he kept one apartment for himself and rented the rest out

The Ghost arrives on Christmas Eve 1843, his life began on Christmas Day 1842. The life of a parent Christmas Ghost is only one year long and then as each new Christmas brings with it a new Christmas Spirit. It is after the Ghost reveals teh two children , Want and Ignorance" that he tells Scrooge that his time on this earth approaches its close.

It took approximately 7-9 years for Dickens to write A Christmas Carol.

The ghost of Scrooge's former business partner, Jacob Marley, visits Scrooge in Stave 1 of "A Christmas Carol." Marley warns Scrooge about the consequences of his selfish and greedy ways.

He is naturally concerned to see light under the door and emitting in to the bedroom. Its at this point he hears teh Ghost of Christmas Present boom out ,"Come in, Come in man and know me well"

At the age of only eight months, Charles Dickens daughter Dora Annie died on 14 April 1851 of a convulsion; she had never been a healthy child. She is bured in the same grave as her mother.

During Dickens' time, common jobs included factory workers, domestic servants, agricultural laborers, miners, and tradespeople such as blacksmiths and cobblers. It's MArley, not MErley- he is Ebenezer Scrooge's deceased buisness partner, who appears to Scrooge as a ghost on Christmas Eve weighed down with chains, ledger books and strongboxes.

In personality he was Scrooge's junior partner in the law firm they ran together, and was treated badly by Ebenezer, eventually dying of an illness due to being overworked and not being paid enough money to pay for medical care. He returns to warn Scrooge of the impending visit of the three Spirits, to warn him to take heed of their messages, and to berate him for his ill-treatment of Marley in life. he is, in essence, an embodiment of the effect that Scrooge has upon people, and this is symbolised by the chains he is bound in, plus the ledgers and safes that Scrooge kept him metaphorically 'bound' to in life.

Initially shock but because of his attitude indifference. The only people that showed great concern was 2 young woman and her husband who are more concerned about what happens to their debt that they had with Scrooge

Scrooge loved money and wealth more than Belle. His pursuit of accumulating wealth and becoming rich consumed him, ultimately causing him to lose Belle and leading him down a path of greed and isolation.

I think hate is too sharp a word. He married Catherine very much on the rebound from an earlier boyish infatuation. Whilst he obviously found Catherine sexually attractive ( you can't have ten children and claim you did not find their mother sexually attractive to some extent at least ) she did not really answer his romantic side or his intellectual aspirations. In time the relationship grew stale and, as we now realise, a younger woman began to appeal. Trapped in marriage yet no longer interested in his wife he began to see her as an obstacle to his perceived happiness with a younger woman. It was a manifestation of his more selfish side. That is the reason he turned so viciously against her. There is much to Dickens sexuality that we don't know and can only guess at but in this respect I think his motivations are pretty easy to understand if not to necessarily to agree with.

The way people at the time were being treated, many were starving, had no money and were living on the streets or were subjected to the confines of the cruel workhouses
He saw it as away of highlighting the appalling conditons children were forced to work in (child labour), the way people were being traeed because they had no work and were poor because of this, the attitude of many parlinmentarians who dismissed the scale of the poverty in Britain as over reported.
To highlight the derivation of the time and to bring to the forefront the issues of the factory and mine owners using child labour as it was cheaper than employing adults. He wanted to make sure that the people of Briatain that had the power and welth to take action were embarressed enough to do something to help
