Charles Dickens

Bob Cratchit is the name of a fictional character who appears in A Christmas Carol. Cratchit works for Ebenezer Scrooge and is thought to be very poor. He has 6 children, all of who sleep in two beds together.

Before his transformation, Scrooge usually spent Christmas Day alone and in his counting house, working and avoiding any festive celebrations. He saw it as just another ordinary day and showed disdain for the holiday spirit.

Charles Dickens decided he wanted to be a writer around the age of 20 when he started working as a journalist and writing sketches for magazines. He published his first story, "A Dinner at Poplar Walk," in 1833 under the pseudonym "Boz."

In my opinion, a good place to start with Charles Dickens would be either The Pickwick Papers or David Copperfield. These are a little more reader-friendly than some of Dickens' other works.

In the book by Charles Dickens, Scrooge did not throw the boy money to buy the Turkey. Scrooge told the boy, "Go and buy it, and tell 'em to bring it here, that I may give them the direction where to take it. Come back with the man, and I'll give you a shilling. Come back with him in less that five minutes, and I'll give you half-a-crown!" When they brought the turkey back to his house, he paid for the turkey and recompensed the boy.

Fan was Fred's mother but died giving birth to him and Ebenezer Scrooge never forgave Fred for it. Just like Ebenezer's mother died giving birth to him, and just like Scrooge never forgave Fred for 'killing' Fan, his father never forgave Scrooge either.

Scrooge's fiancee, Belle, says that a golden idol has displaced her in his heart. This comment reflects her feeling that Scrooge's love for money and wealth has become more important to him than their relationship.

The three spirits that visited Scrooge on Christmas Eve were the Ghost of Christmas Past, the Ghost of Christmas Present, and the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come (or Future). Each spirit showed Scrooge different aspects of his past, present, and potential future to teach him the importance of kindness and generosity.

In "A Christmas Carol" by Charles Dickens, Jacob Marley is forced to drag heavy chains and shackles as a result of his sinful life. These chains symbolize the burden of his misdeeds and represent the consequences of his actions in the afterlife.

The graveyard being called a worthy place is a touch of irony. It was a poorly kept place, neglected and where those who were unloved would be placed. It would be a just end for a miser who was mean and loved nothing but money.

The first ghost of cristmas past takes him all the way back to his first cristmas and our original classic that we're reading in school says that he was a very lonely child(LOL)and that he was very unhappy because of his dark and prepetuous childhood
