Where is it possible to buy colored contacts?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You can buy colored contacts at Walgreens, Amazon or through 1800contacts. You can have them with or without a subscription. If you are looking for non corrected colored contacts, then you do not need a subscription, but you will need the contact fitted to your eye since eyes are all different.

Is it harmful to wear only one contact lens?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

As a user of soft contact lenses for 10 years, yes it is. Using a lens that is anything less than perfect can lacerate (scratch) your eye, causing potentially irreversible damage. Even if the damage done is minor, it still hurts worse than just about anything you can think of, causes major light sensitivity and will keep you from sleep... worst week of my life.

How old do you have to be when you wear contact lenses?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I got contacts when I was 14 and have been wearing them 30 years

It depends on the type of contacts, and also when you get approval from your parents (or if your old enough to decide yourself.)

It depends if you have the flexiblity to touch your eye. I had that fear for many years and I could not do it until now. I will be 42 in Aug and started wearing them one month before my birthday. I overcame my fear because I wanted to learn how to swim and I am very nearsighted. I won't be able to see anything without a pair of glasses. A few years ago, my glasses broke and I had nothing to back it up. I suffered a day being blind and I did not want to go through that again. Also, the person in charge of filling my glasses prescription told me that my lens will be bigger then my face. NO one will see me since I am a small person. That was when I decided to get contacts and love them.

How do colored contact lenses work?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Contact lenses work very similarly to glasses in terms of repairing vision. They are magnified lenses that enlarge everything in sight.

Lenses are shaped to conform to the shape of your eyes. Once patients who wear them get comfortable wearing them, they shouldn't even notice they are in. Special lenses are made for those with irregularly shaped eyes (astigmatisms, toric lenses). These are supposed to fit better and not fall out or get irritated as often.

How do you clean hard contact lenses that are cloudy?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Each type of contact lens and care product or solution will have very specific instruction for how long to rub the lenses to clean them-or not to rub them at all...how long to soak the lenses, how long to rinse the lenses and in what type of solution. Follow these instructions carefully. If you are unsure about any step you should ask your eye care practitioner to further review and explain them.

Some general guidelines should be followed for all lens types. Always wash your hands before removing or inserting the lens. Always use quality lens care products and try to clean lenses as often as possible to remove buildup. Always follow guidelines in the instructions as to minimal soaking time before wearing lenses again. Never rinse the lenses with tap water. Frequently clean the lens case with solution and replace it at reasonable intervals. Your eye care practitioner can advise you on how often your case should be replaced. By following the lens care and cleaning instructions, you will have a safe and comfortable lens wearing experience.

What happens if you leave cavities?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Cavity's are are evaluated in 3 stages.

1. Decay of the Enamel - This stage is not felt. A visual inspection of the tooth is the only way to detect this stage. The fix, a small filling. Prevention, a thin layer of filling material on tooth to protect enamel. Cleanings every 6 months to year.

----

2. Decay of Dentin - At this stage the tooth can become sensitive to hot cold. Food impacted in the tooth can also cause pain as well. The fix, is a barrier lay over the dentin to protect the dentin and replace lost tooth surface with filling material. Prevention, See dentist on stage 1. Go for cleanings every 6 months to year. ----

3. Infiltration of the Pulpa or Nerve. This is the stage where it can keep you up at night. The nerve develops an infection which will cause severe pain. The fix for this is, rehabilitation, with a Root Canal to clean disinfect and seal the root. Then re- construction, with a Post to reinforce the tooth and to replace lost tooth surface so a Crown can be mounted on. Prevention, See dentist on stage two.

---- Warning

Try not to fill teeth with silver amalgams. This type of filling material is thought to be a health risk because of the use of mercury And they have many disadvantages, main one being the removal of more health tooth to retain this type of filling and the filtration of things around and under the filling leading to stage three of tooth decay. Opt for white resin resin fillings. this type of fillings have many advantages. Main one being no mercury, the filling is bonded at a molecular level where as a silver filling is a mecanicaly retained. This prevents filtration under or around the filling.

How long do colored contact lenses last?

User Avatar

It varies. Talking to your eye doctor may help. Some contacts such as Acuvue, etc. have lenses that can last up to a week to a month (not-top wear). Just advise your doctor and see which contact can be used for a long period of time.

How to take out my contact lens?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I am hoping that you mean that you have daily or weekly (or something along those lines) disposables. My contacts are daily-disposables. There is no special way to dipose of contacts. You just take them off and throw them into the garbage. No special bag or special procedures. Nothing of the sort.

Now of course, if you don't want to throw them out, and you are going to wear them again, you have to pour special solution into the sterile case they give you and place them in that. The cases and the solution should come w/ the contacts.

But please remember that, if you wear daily disposables, you really should throw them out. If you save them and wear them again, it can cause infections in your eyes. The daily disposables are specifically designed for one day use (8-10 hrs most of the time) just like the weekly ones are designed only for weekly use. Hope that this answer helps.

Where can you buy red contact lenses?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

You can dye your own contact lenses using red food coloring, but I would suggest against it because according to some doctors, it hurts your eyes. Alternatively, http://www.youknowit.com/online-shop/red-contact-lenses.cfm?sCurrencyCode=USD&gclid=CKWimrvvyKoCFQ6AgwodzX7Qzw has some already dyed contact lenses.

What is a contact lens?

Extended contact lenses allow far more oxygen to get through to the eye than any other soft contact lens. With the increased oxygen supply to the eye, most complications that can occur when sleeping in other soft lens materials have been greatly diminished.

What do soft contact lenses feel like when they are in your eyes?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

If they are in correctly and are undamaged, you won't even notice they are there. However, if they have not been put in properly (in-side-out for example) or the lenses are split or damaged in any way, they will irritate your eyes. You may also suffer irritation if the lenses begin to dry out. Air conditioning is the most common cause of this and using eye drops will really help. Make sure you buy eye drops that are safe for use with contact lenses, your Optomstrist will be able to advise you on ths. You may also experience irritation if you wear your contact lenses or longer than is recommeded. This can also be harmful to your eyes.

How do you clean cloudy rigid gas permeable contact lenses?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

This is what i do. I clean my rgp lenses with Boston advanced cleaner then rinse them with saline solution. I soak them in Boston conditioning solution overnight. Before insertion in the morning, i coat the lenses with Boston conditioning solution, fill lens with saline solution halfway. apply drops of Refresh Celluvisc Lubricant Eye Drops Single Use (single use is preservative free), should be overflowing. Make sure there's no bubbles (tap bubbles with vial tip), then Never did i have cloudy vision again. My eye doctor said i was doing okay but you need to consult your eye doctor too. I apply artificial tears again after removing the lenses and before i sleep at night and when i wake up in the morning.

What do you do if your contact lenses slip?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

First thing is to relax. It's happened to me twice. It might hurt a tiny bit but it won't get any more painful. Take your fingers and stretch out the part of your eye were you think it went and look in the opposite direction. do that for 10 seconds and it should slip back in your eye.

How do light rays react differently when they go through a concave lens and through a convex lens?

User Avatar

Asked by Nightfrost

The photons are absorbed by electrons that they encounter, then re-radiated onward. If the convex lens is in a medium of lower refractive index, the light converges on its way through, and emerges still converging.
