Is onestop convenience stores a good employer?

I believe they are not a good employer at all. The company does not seem to care about their staff and their rewards program is very poor indeed. No reward just a piece of card stating how well you have done. If you exceed in delivering the companies expectations then reward your staff with more then a piece of card. You have to remember they are growing your business.

Training is awful. You are sat in front of a computer and you go through your Bronze E-Learning, which you are then supposed to re-inforce on the shop floor.

Some managers are only interested in getting you through your e-learning then they can go and sit at the back of the store having countless cigarettes and hot drinks completing tasks on the back office. I dont see how the tasks take them so long. Completing those tasks should take no more then 2 hours. Then they should be on the shop floor supporting their colleagues and building a relationship with their customers.

Security is very weak. Two people on a shift, a shift manager and general assistant. When both members are working on the shop floor they would not be able to hear the front door opening, especially if they were down by the chillers. Anyone could hop over counter and fill a basket with tobacco. Older stores require reworking to make them more efficient to both customers and staff.

Up until recently their was a button behind glass which once smashed would release the stock room door. Their is no way you could hear this if you were both busy working on the tills.

I have heard of one instance where an Area Manager asked why the shift manager did not hear the store room door being opened by raiders and why she had not investigated. Lets look at why this is so wrong, the Shift Manager walks out the back confronts the raiders who could then injury her. Would it not be a good idea that if you feel you have intruders push the button on the staff safe wrist band and mention to the controller you may have an intruder.

The shift manager is paid £7.21 an hour and the general assistant £6.47, hardly great wages for tackling criminals.

Pay: Depressing, All shifts paid at basic rate unless you have hit overtime level.

No extra pay for working Saturday or Sundays, so when you require shifts covered whats the incentive One Stop.

Why are most 7-eleven stores on the north side of street?

This may be true for where you are observing the locations of the stores. 7-Eleven stores are convenience stores, meaning they try to be convenient place to shop. The location should be convenient to the maximum amount of traffic. So if this is an east-west running road, then there probably is more traffic traveling west in the afternoon, so you only have to make a right turn to get in the store, and a right turn to exit.

Think about what is profitable for the convenience stores: beer, cigarettes, and the $5 gallon of milk. Things somebody might pick up on the way home, not on the way to work.
