Can you take Cymbalta for life?
Of course! Most ppl do actually. If it works for u and u feel better mood wise on it I'd say take it forever. Only thing is you'll gain so much weight. That's y some get off.
Cymbalta (duloxetine) is usually used as an antidepressant similar to Prozac or Zoloft, though more recently has been expanded for use in treating peripheral neuropathy causing painful feet in diabetics.
Can you take amitriptyline and Cymbalta at the same time?
This is a moderate interaction. SSRI antidepressants might cause your blood pressure to drop too low when taken with certain blood pressure medications. Your doctor needs to monitor you until you become used to are these medicines. Be careful sitting or standing. Contact your doctor immediately if you become dizzy, confused, faint when standing up, or have rapid heartbeat.
Does Cymbalta have any narcotic in it?
It is an anti depressant and is also approved to treat nerve pain.
Can you take hydrocodone and Cymbalta together and is Cymbalta addictive?
Yes and yes. You can take hydrocodone (vicodin) and cymbalta together. Also, each of them, taken alone or combined on a regular basis, cause physical addiction, so stopping either or both will result in withdrawal symptoms.
WARNING/PLEASE NOTE: Just because it's okay to take vicodin and cymbalta together doesn't mean it is okay to take any and all opiates with cymbalta. For example, you can NOT take tramadol (ultram) and cymbalta together.
tramadol is not an opiate its opiod like- very different. and they can be taken together at low dosage ranges under MD supervision. Its not recommended however. the top paragraph is correct
cymbalta is not a controlled substance (other than being prescription) and does not carry the potential for abuse in the vast majority of people
Can you take Adderall immediate release with Wellbutrin XR?
Yes you can. Infact this is considered a great combination for these two medications. I took both myself. Doctors say Wellbutrin works very well with Adderall XR and Immediate release. Wellbutrin XL is considered to be on the "stimulant" side of anti depressants, so some may not do well on both.
Can Cymbalta cause a false positive for methadone in a urine drug screen?
I have been on prescribed Cymbalta for 6 months and recently tested positive for methampethamines in urine test. I take no other medication and have never taken illegal methamphethamines in my life.
Some drugs work better for some people than they do for others. Many will find it useful, others will find it useless or even worsening.
If your doctor suggests it, then you could certainly try. But if it doesn't help, stop using it.
What can I do to help with Cymbalta withdrawal?
You should be withdrawing from Cymbalta as gradually as possible. You should expect to spend a couple of weeks at each lower dose, at an absolute minimum you should be spending a few weeks at 30mg before stopping altogether. If you are withdrawing too quickly and you cannot cope with the effects of withdrawal then you should go back to your doctor and arrange to withdraw more slowly. Once you have Cymbalta back in your system the withdrawal effects should subside.
Will anti-depressants show up in drug screen?
No.
Antidepressants will not show up on standard drug tests. However some commonly used drug tests will detect tricyclic antidepressants (TCA's), an older class of antidepressants.
Since antidepressants (including TCA's) are not addictive or controlled substances there is rarely a need to test for them. It is technically possible to test for any drug but employer, military, home, and hospital drug tests will not test for them (although some home drug tests and hospital tests will find TCA's).
A class of drugs known as benzodiazepines (Valium, Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin/Rivotril, Serax, Restoril) are often incorrectly described as antidepressants. These drugs are often tested for due to their potential for abuse, however most drug tests only test for PCP, cocaine, amphetamines (including meth and ecstasy), opiates (codeine, morphine, and heroin), and THC (marijuana). Benzodiazepines, barbiturates, and oxycodone are the most common tests added to the basic 5-panel test.
If any drug were to show up on a drug test you would not have a problem if you can provide a valid prescription.
Go and see your GP or Psychiatrist, you need to discuss with them why you want to change. It may be due to side effects or you feel it is not working, but the bottom line you need to speak to them.
Cymbalta works good for certain people and in others it doesn't. Compared to the other SSRI's antidepressants it is not as good- more side effects and not as efficient IE longer depressive symptoms or anxiety plus more unwanted effects.
Your GP/Specialist should tell you to not take any antidepressant medication for 2 days before you commence your new medication. This is so you don't get a condition called discontinuation syndrome.
Sincerely
Derek
Is Cymbalta and valproic acid safe to take together?
Talk to your physician abut mixing these two potent medications - I do not have access to your medical history so I am unable to definitively answer your question.
Does Cymbalta show up in a urine test?
In all honestly, it completely depends on what you are taking a drug test for. If the test is for a government purpose (probation, parole, or government job such as postal worker) than no, because they use what is called the NIDA 5 Drug Test. The 5 things they test for are:
THC - Marijuana, Hashish, Marinol, Dronabinol, etc.
Opiates - Morphine, Heroin, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, etc.
Amphetamines - Adderall, Dexedrine, Methamphetamine, Ecstasy
Phencyclidine - PCP
Cocaine
However, some private organizations that require drug testing can (and will) test for whatever they want, but in most states require that they give you a list of what it is exactly what they are testing for. I know from experience that my high school tested for over 17 pyschoactive chemicals, including alcohol, nicotine, and steroids.
Cymbalta, an SNRI, is very widely prescribed, and by law, if you provide a valid prescription before your scheduled test, even if you come back positive for only that chemical, you should pass.
It is also good to know how long certain drugs will stay in your system, and a good resource site for that is www.erowid.org. Not only does it contain drug testing info, it also is a great non-biased reference site for most drugs.
What happens if i suddenly quit taking Cymbalta?
I took the last 60mg Cymbalta in the bottle on Tuesday night and didn't have the money for a refill til Friday. This is NOT a pleasant detox. I can only describe them as BRAIN ZINGS, no way to really say how it feels, but it seems electrical somehow and is quite unpleasant. Not because it is terribly painful, but just terribly terribly weird and uncomfortable. They started on Thursday morning, and by 2am Friday waiting for the store to open I was FREAKING. Now I was having a terrible anxiety problem and had a headache to boot along with the crazy zingers in my brain. My husband got it filled Friday morning and within an hour or so it was so much better. I was fine by the end of the day.
Does snorting Cymbalta get you high?
No, it will not get you high. It will hurt your nose alot aswell.
What decongestant can you take with Cymbalta?
My doctor told me Claritin is safe. (NOT Claritin-D)
There's no adverse reaction, as with Sudafed-type decongestants, but unfortunately, the decongesting results is not very good either.
Interesting. I have used Cymbalta for 10 months and have just recently been plagued with TMJ symptoms. Would like to hear from other Cymbalta users about this.
What is the difference between an ssri and an snri?
I found the best answers for questions regarding medication differences were found in asking a local pharmacist. They are required to know more regarding the interaction and composition of medications with the body than doctors. Remember, generally speaking, doctors PRACTICE medicine. For specific comparison, you might want to check out http://www.antidepressentfacts.com. It seems to answer the exact question you are asking. As I understand it, one reduces the production, while the other inhibits the re-absorbtion of seratonin. Seratonin controls appetite, energy and mood. There is an extensive debate regarding the pros and cons of both levels of the inhibitors. Obviously, because I am not a physcian, I could not provide specific information, but another great source is the Prescription Drug Reference found at most book stores for about $8.00- it gives a more simple explaination of medications, there use and side effects. Hope this helps. SSRI's deal with serotonin; SNRI's deal with serotonin and norepinephrine. A psychiatrist or pharmacist can help tremendously to answer this question about the differences.
What is the effect of taking Cymbalta and tramadol together?
These drugs are contraindicated. Tramadol interacts with the SSRI antidepressants and makes it much more likely that you will develop a potentially fatal condition known as Seratonin Syndrome. This causes rapid heartbeat, sweating, tremors, muscle rigidity, confusion, hallucination, a rise in body temperature which can be fatal, hallucinations, and coma. You also have an increased risk of having a seizure.
Do not take tramadol with SSRI medications.
Can you take Prozac Cymbalta and mirtazapine together?
yes , they can be taken together. Some studies show combining mirtazapine with ssri's make them more effective.
Does Cymbalta make you sleepy?
Prozac or fluoxetine can cause drowsiness, feeling of being tired, trouble concentrating, fainting, feeling of weakness, and being unable to coordinate or recall memories. Some of these resolve as your body gets used to the drug but these side effects may also be occuring because you are taking a high dose. Speak to your pharmacist or doctor on a more personalized medical advice and what you can do to decrease the incidence of these side effects.
