The poodle skirt was created in New York City in 1947 by Ralph Walters, an 18 year old apprentice pattern maker and aspiring fashion designer. The great popularity of this design launched his career and Walters went on to become a master pattern maker and the chief designer of Jay-Mee Fashions which was located at 520 8th Avenue (Fashion Avenue) in the heart of the garment district in Manhattan. Walters' designs at Jay-Mee were sold bearing the house labels of many department stores, as was the custom during the 1950's, 60's and 70's, including Macys, Saks Fifth Avenue, Lord & Taylor and Bonwit Teller. Walters died in 1976 at the age of 47 from leukemia.

For everyday wear, no. You probably do not wear a bearskin everyday. However, both men (kane) and women (wahine) wear the traditional skirt ( pa'u) when performing historically accurate hula.

Just say that everyone in the school has short skirts and that you feel left out because of not wearing a short skirt or you can just sneakly pull your skirt up when you arrive school and when u come back home just pull it down. That works for me anyways.Hope this helps girlie :)
When one of my daughters was that age, she would wear shorts under her skirts so she could go get on swing sets, monkey bars, and generally go play without worrying about flashing anyone. She wanted to look cute in her dresses, but she didn't want them to slow her down.

Well, with variety of options for making maxi skirts, cotton has always been the safest option for the designers. Since cotton can be given any shape, and is really comfortable to wear, designers have always preferred it. But if you look for something classy, or looking for a designer cut, then definitely linen should be your first preference. Determining any one in particular to be the best material is really a tough call. It depends upon individuals. But on a generalized note, cotton has always been placed above others.
It's impossible as it's illegal unless you're a parent that wants to take her clothes with a normal purpose(bathing, changing etc.)
There is no legal bar preventing it.
