Well you mean, how do you know who is an emo, or something like that? If so, then heres the answer! The best ways to tell, are how they dress and act. If they dress with skinny jeans, band t-shirts, and has crazy and unique hair, its an emo. Also, the real emo's act sad, and usually don't want to talk to people around them.

ok first, just cause someone is emo doesnt mean they have to listen to screamo and dress in all black. the answer above is one of the stereotypes. not all emos listen to hevel metal and screamo. not all emos wear heavy makeup and have all the piercings. not all emos wear all black. im emo and i dont wear dark clothing, i dress like all the other people. but i am sad, depressed, and sometimes i draw pictures of stick people being blown up, etc, etc. emo is when your emotional. mostly depressed. i hope this helps you and im not saying the answer above is wrong. its actually pretty good.

I agree with the above person.^^ Emos don't really want to answer people that talk to them, even if they're just trying to be friendly. Just try not to be so happy or optimistic. Don't push it though, if things don't work out, you should probably just give up. Don't take it personally.

Well, SOME of them do. Like happy emo, people who's style is emo, but the person wearing aren't emo, smile and laugh. Others, maybe not. Most do, but they are very outgoing, and the regular emos, I don't know. ask one of them.
