First, keep the muzzle pointed downrange in a safe direction for at least 1 minute. HANGFIRE means that firing has been DELAYED- it MAY happen when you do not expect it. After 1 full minute, reprime the arm, and attempt to fire a second time. If it is a caplock, replace the cap. If a flintlock, replace the priming powder in the pan, and attempt to refire. If it still does not fire, wait a full 5 minutes. Remove the barrel from the firearm, place in flat in a container of warm water, submerging the barrel. Let soak at least 30 minutes, the use a bullet puller to remove the bullet, wash out powder, dry, reassembled.

Assault rifles are select-fire military arms and are rather restricted for purchase, requiring a $200 tax stamp and from a restricted list of firearms registered before 1984. A true assault rifle would generally cost at least $10,000 to purchase due to restricted supply.

As for best, it depends on what you're using it for. There is no overall 'best' anything, it all depends on application.

Because mechanical systems fail, and people fail. If the muzzle is pointed at some one and you fail, they would ne injured or killed.

A small bit of priming compound (usually lead azide) is crushed by the force of the firing pin, making it explode. The explosion generates a brief spurt of flame, igniting the gunpowder. This burns, producing a rapidly expanding gas that pushes the projectile (the bullet or shot) out of the barrel.

Smithsonian was the trade brand name used by Crescent Fire Arms Co. and later Crescent-Davis. The distributor/retailer was H & D Folsom. Likely production in the 1900-1925 time period. No relation to the Smithsonian Institute.

Remington rifles are dated from a 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on the barrels, left side, half inch from the receiver. Go to the website for the Remington Collector's Association, and they have the table to decode the month and year of manufacture.

Hopkins & Allen began business in 1868. Unfortunately, they closed in 1916, and there are very few serial number records. The XL revolvers range from the 1880s up into the early 1900s. Please do not attempt to fire it with modern high speed .22 ammo- it was not built for that.

That depends entirely on where you are, and what you want to do. In the US, on a Federal level, there are permits/ licenses to be a dealer in guns, an importer, manufacturer, collector, dealer or manufacturer of machine guns, etc. Some states require a permit to purchase a gun or possess a gun, and a different permit to carry a gun, or carry a gun concealed.

Yes/ no with these conditions. A legal possession of a gun in Washington is 18 years old. A minor has to provide a hunters license or hunter's safety certificate with a shotgun. A minor engaged in hunting may carry a firearm as long as the gun is unloaded and not accessible in the car.

Does not have a serial number, nor does it need one. Manufactured 1949-1954. Serial numbers were not required by law on rifles and shotguns until 1968. Perfectly legal to own.

Burgo is one of the many trade names used on Arminius brand revolvers made by Weihrauch Sport GMBH of Mellrichstadt, Germany in the 1950's to 1980's.

The HW 3 was a low dollar revolver of indifferent quality- most were banned from import to the US after 1968. Value around $50.

Finding parts will be a matter of luck. These were German imports that cut off about 1968, Believe they were connected with Herbert Weihrauch. In like new condition they are about a $150 gun.
