There are three colors in the Irish flag. They are green, white and orange. This flag was adopted in 1919 during the Irish War for Independence, and then after the war, by the Irish Free State.

It is generally considered that green represents the Catholic/nationalist/republican communities, orange represents the Protestant/unionist/loyalist community, and the white stands for the hope for peace and unity between them.
The Irish Constitution does not give the colours any significance.

The Ivory Coast as both have the same colours but different arrangements. The Ivory Coast flag is orange, white and green whereas the Irish flag is green, white and orange.

The Irish flag is green, white and orange. Many Irish people do indeed tend to refer to it as gold and this is likely to be because of ignorance as to what each of the three colours represent. Green being the Catholic tradition, Orange being the Protestant tradition and white representing peace between both communities. The Irish nationalists do seem to have a colour that looks more like gold than orange. I've seen it in photographs, maybe they deliberately mean for it to be be gold, and not out of ignorance. Look at some pictures of the flag from the North, maybe the ROI flag is more orange.

Green represents the Catholic population, orange the Protestant population and white the peace between the two communities

There is no gold on the Irish flag. The colour that people confuse and even refer to as being gold is actually orange. See the related question below.

Popular history states the red of the flag represents valor, white stands for liberty or purity and blue represents justice, loyalty and perseverance. These meanings are unofficial though. ----- Check out the link below for more

The Irish flag is composed of three colors: green, white, and orange. The colors are arranged in three equal vertical stripes, in that order, from left to right.

Green, white and gold are the Offaly colours, one of Ireland's counties. The Irish flag is green, white and orange. Some people mistakenly say gold for the orange in the Irish flag, or mistakenly use orange instead of gold for the Offaly flag.
No, there is no gold on it. That is a common mistake. The flag is green, white and orange. It is not green, white and gold.

How to Fold the Irish Flag
The colors that make up the Irish flag are often symbolic and have designated meaning. Three colors make up the Irish flag. Green represents the Catholics of Ireland; orange represents the Protestants of Ireland; and the white stripe between the two represents the idea of unity and peace between both people.
1. Fold the orange section over on top of the white section.
2. Turn the flag over and fold the green section over similarly on top of the opposite side of the white section.
3. Fold the flag in half doubling the orange section in on top of itself, leaving the green on both sides of the remaining square.
The idea behind this specific folding pattern is so that the orange and green sections symbolically never touch. The orange section represents Protestant settlers in Ireland (there is a William of Orange connection but I am unsure as to what) and the green section represents the Catholic indigenous. Because of the conflict between the two in the past in the Republic, the white is included in the flag to represent peace, and to separate them when the flag is folded. Presumably the green section is left foremost as it is the National Color of Ireland. If the Irish Flag is folded triangularly (like the Stars and Stripes), this is incorrect.

Ireland's central point for socialising is the pub, and Ireland's pubs are famous. Around the world Irish pubs are found, though few are really like a pub in Ireland. As pubs are important, then so is drink. Other things people do to socialise in Ireland would be go to restaurants, theatres, cinemas, dances, sporting events and go to each others homes to visit, sometimes for a special event, like Christmas or a birthday.

It is protocol for handling the Irish flag in Ireland. The same applies in many countries with national flags. An Irish flag flying in another country would not be flown highest, whereas the flag of that country might be. It is the national flag of Ireland, so it is of greater importance than any other flag in Ireland, and so it is flown higher than other flags.

There is no emblem on the Irish flag. It is just green, white and orange, arranged in 3 equal vertical bands. Ireland's official emblem is O'Carolan's harp, but it does not appear on the national flag.
