Can you lay ceramic tile in a trailer house over linoleum?

No because of a few of reasons. Most manufactured homes have particle board subfloors which are completely incompatible with installing ceramic flooring. In the rare event your floor doesn't have particle board and does have plywood, the house must be on a foundation. If it is in a park, it is usually held in place with tie downs. The home moves to much for the floor to be successful. Finally linoleum isn't an acceptable subfloor. You need a total of 1 1/4" of subflooring when complete. Assuming you have 3/4" plywood, you would need to add 1/2" cement board. The linoleum can stay, but the tile cannot be adhered directly to it.

How do you bring faded floor vinyl back to original color?

You can't. The product is basically like a photograph. If you leave a photo out in the sun you've destoyed the pigments in it. Same basic idea. Clean it with a good quality vinyl floor cleaner and a soft scrub brush and that's the best you're going to get. If you're unhappy with it's appearance, it will have to be replaced. Vinyl flooring is fairly inexpensive.

Can you install travertine tile over ceramic tile?

Yes you can but it is a difficult and expensive install. Also you can only do it if there are no loose or cracked tile.

However, travertine does not "tile over" well- nor does it last very long when doing so in most environments. Travertine is extremely vulnerable to acids and acidic conditions- should any water collect between the two tile layers & their binder and then become acidic (which stagnant water often does) it will begin to disintegrate and ruin the stone (leaving behind holes, etchings, weak spots and chunks of the epoxy/resin filler).

Our advice is to completely avoid "tiling over" existing tile with any of the following: travertine, saturnia, or any other calcium carbonate stone from the limestone family- unless the longevity of the stone is not an issue and/or it is not exposed to water (e.g. a temporary display or an indoor fireplace).

How many 4x8 bricks would you need to lay a 225 sq foot walkway?

You will need exactly 1013 bricks so unless you already included some overage in the sq. ft. I would buy 1100 so that you have extra for cuts, if you're planning to lay a more complicated pattern such as herringbone you might need even more. Hope this helps.

How do you seal a chattahoochee patio?

we painted ours with alkyd based Porch and Floor enamel. It holds the loose stones down and gives a fresh color. However, it took a 1"nap roller, and paint thinned by 10% to get it into all the crevices, we still had to go back over and brush missed cracks. Also, we only got about 15 sq feet per gallon of paint, even thinned. To me, it was totally worth it, our pebbles were all falling off, it hurt the kids feet and ruined two pool pumps. Now it has a nice non skid texture from the paint clinging to the pebbles and it looks 1000 times better. If you get into all the spaces between pebbles it seals it also, you don't need another sealer.

How do you decide between engineered hardwood floors and natural hardwood floors?

If we can nail it down we use (prefinished) hardwood. If we have to glue it down (on slab) we use engineered.

You can certainly use engineered in any application whether nail down, glue down, or even floating. There really aren't many compelling reasons to use solid anymore beyond prestige and the fact that is has zero chemical emissions. Engineered can be refinished just like solid, as long as the top veneer is think enough. If you plan to be in your house long enough to refinish the floor, use an engineered with a 3mm+ top veneer.

If carpet is 11.26 per sq yard and the carpet is 12' width how much is it per lineal foot?

Every 9 inches of a roll with a 12-foot width is a square yard. This means every lineal or running foot of 12-foot wide carpet is 1 1/3 square yards of carpet. If carpet is $11.26 per square yard, a running foot of our carpet on the roll would cost about $15. The actual answer is $15 and 1 & 1/3 cents a lineal foot.

7 to 10 days.

Method of testing:

How do you prepare and stain an existing interior concrete floor?

Apply muriatic acid to dry surface (good ventilation a must). This removes stains and oils. (Note: if you plan on using an acid stain, DO NOT clean with muriatic acid, since this will make acid staining impossible). Rinse and dry. Apply sodium hydroxide (10% solution) to neutralize remaining acid. Rinse and dry. Ready for your choice of floor treatment. Recommend a urethane sealant first, to prevent moisture absorbed in concrete from coming up under the coating you finish with.
