Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump is neither a mockery or a parady. This does not make it non-fiction though. The Gump character was based loosely on a real man named Sam Davis, Jr. Davis suffered from autism but he was a war hero just as in the movie. The movie uses historical events to give the viewer a sense of times and eras.

Lt. Dan Taylor didn't see the movie Forrest Gump but was a character in the movie. Gump not only saved Lt. Dan's life, but he restored his faith.

Accorging to the movie Forrest GUMP, the idea came about by Forrest wiping his face on a towel leaving an impression giving KEATS the idea.

What do you mean by "real?" Although the movie (and the novel it was based on) take place amid the backdrop of real historical events, it is a completely fictional story. Forrest Gump is not a real person. He is a fictional character.

It never really says how old he was when he first got his braces but it looked like about 3rd or 4th grade. This is just a guesstimate on my part.

In a direct quote from the movie, Forrest says, "My mama always said that you've got to put the past behind you before you can move on, and I think that's what my running was all about. I had run for three years, two months, fourteen days and sixteen hours."

When Forrest was a boy, he had brace's put on his legs to help correct his crooked spine. His Doctor said, "…his legs are strong, as strong as I've ever seen. But his back's as crooked as a politician." When Forrest meets Jenny for the first time and she asks what is wrong with his legs, he says, "My legs are just fine and dandy. My mama says my back's crooked like a question mark. These are gonna make me straight as an arrow."

The Gump House was built for the movie and was torn down when filming was finished.

In the movie Gump is more successful than he was in the novel.

He tells the gentleman on the bus bench about his million dollar wound and being wounded in the buttocks and the only good thin about it was all the ice cream he could eat. Later, he is being awarded the medal of honour from President Lyndon Johnson. "That must be a site, I would like to see that."

The main setting for the movie "Forrest Gump" is Forrest's hometown of Greenbow, Alabama. Secondary locations for the movie are Savannah, Georgia, Vietnam, New York City and Washington, D.C. There are also scenic shots across America from when Forrest did his coast-to-coast run.

Gump finally married his childhood sweetheart Jenny but the marriage didn't last due to Jenny dying.

Jenny appeared in Playboy magazine posing in only her college sweater. The article was titled, "The Girls of the South." She was expelled from school when they found out about the photos.

According to the old "Paramount News" footage, the copyright was listed as 1962. The introduction took place when Forrest got to meet the president as a member of the All-American Football Team.

Both deal with the war in Vietnam.
