Gangsters didn't really start in one specific place. How they started was simple. Generally, when people came to this country from other countries, they'd feel isolated from others. They'd even sometimes be attacked by locals or other immigrants. So, they'd form grous known as "crews" or "Gangs." It started innocently enough, it was just for protection. Then, they started forcing people in "their territories" to pay them small amounts of protection money. They then branched out into other rackets.

5150 is a west coast gang. They are few in numbers but not someone you would want to cross paths with. It is generally a latino gang but the peckerwoods's started a break-off of their own.

After what I've read there is only 3 ways to leave a gang:

1 You die.

2. Your girlfriend have a baby and you can leave because you have to take care of them but this might not be for all of them.

3. You take a beating from them which can kill you.

A gang is not a family. They say it is but it is not. A family would protect you and not ask you to confess to a crime you did not do and go to prison for years for another member just because you joined later then he did. They would not ask you to take a life or hurt people. Your life will no longer belong to you. Fighting with other gangs put your real family in danger. The world is huge and there is nothing that says you have to stay there the rest of your life. If you join a gang you can not just leave because you feel like it.
