The Madagascar Ground gecko/ Pictus Gecko/panther gecko (paradura Picta) is a species with just claws and no lamalee. Their close cousins from the same region however do (Paradura. androyensis)

It could be that if your gecko has just shed it's skin, it's toes nead a soak in water in order to soften the dried skin around the toes. Geckos shed and eat the skin for nutrients, and can normally do a good job of getting the skin off themselves, but toes are tricky and without a helping hand of a soak, the skin can cut off the circulation to the toes and the tips will eventually drop off, resulting in them not being able to cling as well.

When you spot your gecko looking a like he/she has a white film, then they are going to shed most likely the same day, so for the next couple of days keep an aye out and once the shed is finished, help with the toes. it can also help to spray the tank with a mist of water to keep humidity up to help wit the overall shed.

geckos normally like to hunt their prey they normally only eat food which is alive,meal worms can be put in a shallow dish to stop them escaping and burrowing in your tank or you can feed them by hand or with long tweezers especially for this you can allow put in a few crickets maybe 3 for a youngish gecko and around 5 for an adult with maybe one meal worm twice a week I feed my juveniles every other day make sure you dip all food in calcium powder(you can get this from most good reptile shops or on line e bay ect) water should also be changed fresh every day,hope this helps if you want a good book on geckos, leopard geckos be gerold and Cindy merker is a great book.

it is recommended that you do not feed geckos pinkies but they should be able to handle ONE every 1-2 months once they are 8-10 inches not including tail.

Geckos are reptiles species meaning they are ectothermic. Meaning their body temperatures rely on the envoirenment. All reptiles require mildly warm - hot temperatures to stimulate their metabolism. The coolest of cool would be mid 60's. The bavayia andrhacodactylus species thrive in temps ranging from 65-75. Some uroplatus species thrive in cooler temps as well.

you can get a number of different morph types, some flame witch are red, some dalmations witch are obviously spotty, harlequin, striped but overall they are smallish, they look scaly, they look like they are constantly smiling and have prickles running around the edges of their head, five indivdual toes. and they have pupils witch appear as a slit but they get bigger at night

Yes. A gecko will grow back a tail. It won't be as long or strong, but it will grow back.
There are many reasons why a gecko's tail may fall off. It may fall off when in a fight with another animal, or the tail can also fall off if the gecko is stressed out. Unfortunately, if the tail does fall it will not grow back .

Leopard geckos live in a climate that hits almost 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Your home is more than likely 60-80 F. Therefore your leopard gecko would not be able to sustain extended periods of time out of its terrarium.

A heating pad is not necessary for a bearded dragon. Heating should come from overhead in the form of UVA and UVB lighting. The idea behind heating pads is a good one, but they have been known to get too hot and burn/fry your bearded dragon to death. However, the overhead lighting will heat rocks constantly exposed to the lights to some extent, but never hotter than the temperature than the light already produces, so they shouldn't prove to be a danger.

I Don't believe scientists have bred gargoyles (auriculatus) with the cresteds (Cilatus) It's scientifically impossible. In some instances, if the tank requirements reach everyones needs, gargs have been kept with cresteds in breeding groups. This means that the male gargoyle gecko and the male crested were provided with enough space to minimize the confrontations. This has only been done in studies and Breeders do not recommend this.

Leopard geckos bones are always growing. They need to have calcium in their cage at all times. I keep mine in a little bottle cap. They will lick at in when they need it. Juveniles and pregnant leos need calcium especially!

hi im Annie and i have a gecko so this is what i did You need to feed your gecko insects like crickets, locusts, mealworms or you can feed it pinky mice(dead baby mice). you need a heat mat or something to heat up the tank and the tank has to be fairly big because my gecko loves to explore her tank also put sand in the tank to make it look a bit more like her home and you can put like small plants into it aswell or bridges or big chunk of wood for it to climb on or anything really to make it look like her home in the wild.p.s. are you getting a gecko if you are what kind of gecko because i have a leopard gecko? When i found out i was getting a gecko i couldn't believe my mum was really letting me have 1 but then i found out that it was proberly dead because no one was looking after it for a whole month. so my granda went to see if it was alive and it was!!!!!!it survived 4 a month without any food, water or sunlight!!!!!! xx Annie xx

My experience in the exotic reptile business has taught me that the species of lizard called Day Gecko enjoys fruit in its diet. The preparation is simple and convenient: get a bottle of peach baby food ( it's finely pureed peach) and the geckos love it. PS you can use the lid from the previous jar as a feeding dish!

Leopard geckos are native to the middle east, and live in the deserts under rocks during the day and come out to feed on insects at night. Leopard geckos need to be kept at around 88 to 94 degrees Fahrenheit, because of where they live naturally. Therefore, it is a good idea to get your leopard gecko a heat lamp, which you can buy at any pet store and are inexpensive.

lots of people keep there leopard geckos in tubs. I'm going to get two leopard geckos for my birthday and I'm going to get one proper glass vivarium and one plastic tub. I do think that it depends how many geckos you are going to get. if you are only getting one then i would buy a glass vivarium. if you are getting 1+ then i recommend a few plastic tubs.

most reptiles, including birds, have scales. It is entirely possible that there are some specializations in lizards and other reptiles where they change to have another body covering, but I haven’t seen any like that. The New Caledonian Giant Gecko or Leach's Giant Gecko is the biggest gecko in the world. It is a nocturnal specie of gecko that makes it's home in the treetops of New Caledonia. Many locals call this gecko "the devil of the trees" because of the growling sound it makes with its throat at night.

I would not recommend you feeding your gecko black ants.. You do not know where they have been and they may have pesticides on them that can cause the gecko to get sick... Stick to crickets or mealworms

yes they do they also drink warm water so if you find one in your sink dont panik just put them in a jar and put him outside . DONT KILL IT!

Some do and some don't! I used to have two (now only one) One liked to climb around on my hand and the other not so much. Also be careful they can be fast and jumpy though. Of course the one that liked me died but the other one now likes me and I can hold him. So yes you can try to handle them and maybe they just don't like to. From: Lms1211

A leopard gecko is an insectivore, strictly relying on insects of various sizes and shapes. The leopard gecko is native to the deserts of Afghanistan and not much vegetation is in the area. There are minimal trees and shallow shrubs that provide protection from hot days, but not much in the way of foods for these animals.

They may nibble at a vegetable (some types of geckos have diets that include nectar and fruits) but it is not something that they would choose to eat.
