Do pink grapefruit burn fat?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

It doesn't burn fat, but consuming it in lieu of soda will help reduce your calorie intake which in turn will cause less fat to be stored. It is the physical activity of your body that burns fat, not food. Just breathing, your heart pumping and all the other stuff going on inside of you is burning calories as well as your body moving around when walking or exercising. The key to burning fat is consuming less than you are using. Think about it this way: if you have 1000 dollars in your bank account and you take out 100 everyday and put in 75 every day as well then you will lose 25 dollars a day. Make sense?

Also grapefruit juice can help control your body's insulin levels. Insulin regulates blood sugar levels which affects weight. Studies have shown that overweight individuals (50 men & 50 women) who consumed a half grapefruit with each meal for 12 weeks lost an average of 3.6 pounds. This proves that there really is scientific basis for grapefruit as a weight loss agent.

If you have LOTS of grapefruit, it may cause some safety concerns. A little will probably not hurt. Ask your pharmacist. Yes Biaxcin interacts with Grapefruit juice. It affects how it's broken down in your body, how it gets metobolized. It is a good idea to check with your doctor and or your pharmacist.
